I was so excited to take class with pretty lady today! Kara is the owner of @juiceboxvt and they have some big news coming. Hop on over to their page to be in the know. So excited for you!!! Thanks Noah for an awesome class. 🕉
Definitely not where I would normally want to be just 100 meters into a 230 km road ultramarathon: way ahead in first place. After a bit of back and forth with two other guys until the first aid station at 30km however, I never looked back and took overall first place in 24:15 hours at the TorTour de Ruhr race (Germany), two hours ahead of the runner-up and beating the previous course record of this 10 year old event by 75 minutes. Apart from a few low points everything just clicked. #ttdr2018#tortourderuhr#ttdr230 📷 @travelasfarasican
Seven soggy hours later...the Pisgah 55.5k turned into a 50 miler, but thanks to pockets full of snacks and the lightning forcing me to go faster I survived (my brake pads didn’t) 🚲🌧🎉 #sorrybike#pisgahproductions#jaking#ctsathlete
Came home to find my 3rd place age group medal had arrived. Thanks to the #buckhurleytriathlon team for sending it out!! Bit injured at the moment, but next action is some Single seat racing then the #xterraoffroad triathlon. Buzzing!! Big thanks to @colinizzard my @cts_trainright coach for keeping me focused, getting me to the finish line and onwards!! #ctsathlete
Get into the groove or supine pigeon! Feels so good.... What I’m learning this weekend is yoga for everyone, literally everyone. For the flexible peeps, it helps you go deeper into your asanas. For those of you who think you never could do yoga, there are lots of supportive tools to help you through your class. Treat yourself, take care of you & give yourself some love.
@amgentoc 2018 is a wrap! The best part about this job is meeting such amazing people! Athletes just like me and my friends who love bikes and have the commitment to train long hours to ride over 600 miles in 7 days in our beautiful State of California! I’ll miss my #ctsfamily , time to go kiss that handsome husband of mine!!! @sullyontv @billwalton @dedwards1211 @cts_trainright #ctsathlete#amgentourofcalifornia#ilovemyjob @yokoteute
Pinarello had a great week supporting and providing F10s to the CTS team as they followed the ATOC
Thanks @pinarello_us for all the support this week at @amgentoc CTS Race Experience!
Mission @hauteroute_na Asheville accomplished successfully. Today ended up the opposite of yesterday, and surprised myself with a 4th place os a packed women’s field. Thank you Colin and @cts_trainright crew and riders for making today such a fun fast painful and enjoyable day. These were the last two days of an endurance week with 20+ hours on the bike - I am very happy to have earned a couple of recovery days 😁
A less than flattering photo of one tired old coach catching a few 💤 on van ride back to the hotel. Our camp manager, @belen_ramirez_bourdages photo bombs :) 2018 @amgentoc is a wrap! Our athletes crushed it...! #ctsbucketlist#ctsathlete photo courtesy of @sullyontv
This might be the best part of my job. Sneaking in rides (with @cts_trainright Race Experience #bucketlist ) when I can and enjoying the scenery of @visitcalifornia with the greatest people that cycling has to offer. I am a proud Californian and a #ctsathlete . This week at the @amgentocwomen has been a crazy circus of little sleep transferring from city to city and working with #amgenbreakaway (@breakawaycancer and @breakawayfromheartdisease) but it is all worth it. #whatsworthit 🚴🏼♀️ ❤️ 👩🏼🔬 📷 @cts_trainright
And they’re off!! Last Day of @amgentoc and these crew crushed every Stage!!! 646 miles of riding in the beautiful State of California and finishing at the California State Capitol!!!Athletes are already asking how to sign up for next year!!! I might have some negotiation to make with hubby to be back here with my #ctsathlete family in 2019!!!!😜😜#ilovemyjob#ctsathlete#amgentourofcalifornia#california#ctsbucketlist @cts_trainright
I’m so honored to be in this Restorative teacher training this weekend. In a classroom among other teachers in our community both near and far.
I’ll have lots to share with my one on one private students, new tools added to the toolbox. This training will also be added to my regular classes as well.
@chefscycle 2018 is a wrap - I can’t say enough about this organization: what it stands for, the chefs involved, & the vision of @nokidhungry. It’s a blessing that we get to ride bikes and do what we love to do to raise money & feed children across the nation. And we get to do it all again in Charlottesville come September!

Today’s Stage is 122 miles with 15000 feet elevation gain. We only had a 2 hours head start from the Pro’s so we gave the athletes a “head start”, they still have to do 87 miles with over 12000 feet elevation gain!!!! These guy and my favorite girl @dedwards1211 are all hardcore badasses, can’t wait to see them at the Finish line, but still had to stop and enjoy the beauty of @visitcalifornia . Work Hard play hard they call it! 😜😜#mountainlover#california#Californiaparaguayangirl#amgentourofcalifornia#lifeontheroad#ctsathlete#ilovemyjob @cts_trainright @jasonsiegle
Tonight’s easy run brought to you by all the sweat, Jumangi, and the @woodwaytreadmills ! Folks at the gym always walk by and get all weird... 🤷🏼♀️.
In fairness, I swam open (super salty) water first and that never seems to help. .
Thanks @pjuractive for bringing me into their ambassador fold this past month. If you haven’t checked out their 2nd skin anti chaf - You absolutely should! Nothing works better to keep your neck - wetsuit and work appropriate. Ie- no wetsuit hickies.
The how. Sort of.
3.5 years into my journey and I forget that many of my “see them every day” friends and social media followers never knew “big Abby.” As a result, many folks have the immediate reaction of “but how?” My honest answer… it all began with one thing. Not exercise. Not diet. Not a how moment. But a when. Or just simply BEING READY. Said another way, YOU have to be ready. 100% committed. The journey isn’t easy and it’s never temporary. It helps being tired of being fat and tired, but for it to last… the desire for change has to be rooted from deep within you. .
I knew my life needed change for many years prior to October 6, 2014. How do I know the specific date? Because it was the moment everything changed.
A month prior, I had told myself my relocation to California would be the change I needed to break the bad habits. My 30th birthday was looming, so I decided I’d find a personal trainer, eat healthy, limit the wine. You know, lose the weight. And I was doing all of those things. Sort of. It wasn’t until my 2nd trip to Las Vegas in 30 days followed by a visit to the trainer that EVERYTHING changed.
That Monday (Oct 6th to be exact), @pangsanity.personaltraining so kindly told me we would doing check in measurements. Well, not only was it “that time of the month” but I had literally just driven in from Vegas. 😡 I of course objected, but seeing as we were 30 days into personal training, he insisted. You probably know how this goes, but I had GAINED weight! Shocker… I was going to training sessions, but then ditching my cardio for Thirsty Thursday. I was shoving Taco Hell in my mouth at 2 am and sleeping through my Sundays. My “healthy lunch” was served with a side of office donuts. That day, those +2 lbs and tipping the scale over 200, I left the gym in tears THAT was it. My 100% commitment found me, not the other way around. .

Two VERY different experiences of shopping for a “sparkly” dress!
#tbt The weather was brutal at the Florida Half Triathlon. It was a good lesson in focusing on what you CAN control. Best of luck to those competing this weekend in Tri-Miami focus on what you can control and you will have a great race. #racehappy#multiraceteam#triathlon
Bike rides, races, and events pull us together for many reasons. This week, it’s all for these chefs at @chefscycle & @nokidhungry. We’ve already raised $1.4m, which will benefit more children than any one of us could do alone. But the other big impact is seeing nearly 300 chefs step out of their kitchens, riding bikes for 3 days, and connecting in ways that only a bike can do. Love being a part of something this big, thank you @jeffmahin & @adelenelson.ace for making it happen!
Today the athletes finished at Laguna Seca Race Way, after 120 miles! These athletes are amazing, at the end of the week they will cover over 700 miles and lots of elevation ( I’m too tired to do the math 😜) Today they rode with Kristin Armstrong, 3Xolympian and gold medalist, and yesterday our guest rider was Jens Voigt. CTS ATOC Experience is a bucket list!!! #amgentourofcalifornia#ctsathlete#ilovemybike#ilovemyjob#shutuplegs
