Crow Pose ; Bakāsana
Typically I used to get into bakāsana from a squat position, but coming in from a squat position can be unnecessarily difficult because your hips don’t start from a high position and you end up in a crow pose that’s much more difficult to maintain.

What I learnt from @ihanayoga instead was a much more effective way to get into crow: from tadasana (mountain pose).
.
1. After I’ve sweeped my arms down from tadasana my hips are starting in a much higher biomechanically advantageous position. .
2. I raise my heels as my spine rounds placing my fingertips, then hands onto the floor.

3. From this position on your toes your hips are much higher making it easier to get your knees into you’re underarm creases. Compared to starting from a squat where you knee’s usually end up lower and your spine straighter making it feel harder. Starting from standing causes more spinal flexion leaving the hips higher making the pose feel so much easier and lighter.

Bakāsana from a high hip position is mostly a much more effective way to come into crow pose compared to coming in from a squat position, resulting in a more effortless transition where your body almost falls into the pose, rather than forcing into it. Allow yourself to be inspired by others around you. As soon as I got to Chicago with my friend @itsmisssonja, I did the unspeakable and accidentally locked her keys in her car with really bad timing (she had to be somewhere ASAP). But she didn’t get mad at all. She kept her cool, thought of the alternative actions we could take and everything worked out. Her kind heart speaks SO much to me. I felt unbelievably horrible, but she didn’t make me feel the slightest bit bad for it. Day 5 of #FlyingIntoApril 🌿 Today's pose - my nemesis move, much neglected, never truly accomplished - #crowpose ! Although we had several options for today, I decided to work on the crow and just see how it goes. First day, I was trying a wheel yoga entrance that I saw @yogi_kostas practice. I was microadjusting my entrance, trying to breathe properly and used yoga blocks to block my fear of falling straight forward, and in one attempt I just felt it - a balance that wasn't rushed into. Next day I was doing the same without a yoga wheel. Yesterday I took one day off because of the accumulated bruises and pain. Today, I decided to record this pose and just post whatever happens - and although it's still feeble and entry-level, I'm extremely proud of this stable crow progress! After two years of feeling "it's just not happening for me", I can finally incorporate this damned move in my practice and feel good about it 🤗👏👏 Thank you dear hosts ✨

DAY 1 is crow pose, bakasana or kakasana 🐦.
Yesterday, when I took this shot, I realized this pose reminds me so much this part of the year! I don't know why, maybe just because I committed myself so much last year to work on arm balances and to straighten those arms in bakasana 😊

It's so amazing when a song, a smell, just a temperature, the sun and the colors remind us beautiful feelings. I gain so much strength when it happens.

I realized today that I haven’t contributed to the “eating” part of the #latebloominglotusistwo party 🎉 in a while so while hubby & I were out for lunch today this is how it went down:
I set up my camera 📷 (after I had a few swings of wine 🍷) 🤪 to attempt to do a crow pose at my seat while I was having appetizers 😆. Hubby: “Cut the shit”
“RACHEL GET DOWN!” 😳 (like I’m a dog 🐕 😂)
“I’m leaving, I’m gonna get up & leave” “Fucking! Cut the shit, STOP!”
Me: Alright, I’ll do this (prayer hands)😆

Practicing what I preach. 😘 Last Saturday, we worked on twists. They're great for improving digestion. They're also a great metaphor for life - life offers us all sorts of twists. yesterday, my friend said about me that I don’t really have a concept of not being able to do things, and that my strategy is to want to do something, and just to do it. She mostly said it about my yoga practice, but I hope that energy has spread into my entire life. this world is too good not to try everything that your heart draws you to.
Crow pose is seriously one of those weird yoga poses. One of the many.
I remember trying this over 2 years ago for the first time, falling on my face and thinking what is this!? With practice I’ve managed to hold crow pose.
Now I’m onto the next thing. Crow pose toe taps. It’s also weird, hard and I’m still practicing. Guess I’ll always be learning 😜

This 25 breath #crowpose was brought to you by @kinoyoga. She promised it would get into the dark places of my self and that it did. This pose brought a real fear of falling my face. The time felt alot longer then it is here.

This position requires strength in the arms above all ability and sense of balance 🧡.

What you don't know is that I was super scared to fall on the floor doing this pose, the height isn't that bad but Holy Sh*t!.

Silver lining? Get out of your comfort zone, don't go crazy though! But do something that you have wanted to do but for x,y or z reason/excuse you did not do it. Explore your boundaries, your edges because you won't know where your new limit is until YOU figure it out.
