This every day carry blade has been completed and I couldn't ask for a better knife, this beautiful knife was all hand forged. This polished blade sports a filework on the entire spine of the blade from top to tang, with a full tang dressed with beautiful purple heart wood and brass pins aswell as my makers mark hot stamped into it during the forging process. Sharp as ever and small enough to carry into church. It is a 4 inch blade and 8 inches over all. If you would like to own this blade send me a message and I will give you more info.
My dad had this necklace made for my mother. It has been designed after my mother's tribe figurehead. Remember last week I told you about the Ndongo? Well, the figurehead is a big part of it as it is a representation of the legend that links each tribe to the Jengu of the river Wouri.
From what I know the animal below is a crocodile. At his tail there is a monkey then a turtle surrounded by two dogs and two birds. I need to ask my family about the exact story though but I'm sure each of them will tell me either they don't know either a different story each time😂. To come back to the necklace I consider it a real heirloom. On the French side I have many objects and pictures remembering me my roots but on the Cameroonian one, I don't have much. Hence why when I discover something about Cameroon I am super happy. I grew up in an environment in which my mom wouldn't tell me anything about her story and her country so this necklace always makes me feel like it is part of my story. .
May have gotten a little carried away and maybe went a little too deep with the juice groove.
But c’mon, is there really such a thing as a juice groove that is too deep?
Also, very happy to be back on a chamfer all around.
I have long loved The Pleasant Home and we actually had our wedding reception on the massive front porch of this historic home #nexttochicago . Because I LOVE all things next to Chicago, real estate and architecture, I am thrilled to announced that I am now a member of the Board for The Pleasant Home Foundation. Stay tuned for more amazing updates about this gem in the heart of Oak Park. Check out the current restoration project of these stained glass windows by Drehobl Art Glass Company!
