So true! I am a feeler and have operated most of my life functioning almost entirely from a place of emotions. Through education and life experiences I have learned how my rational brain can really help me out. ⠀
Feelings don't have logic. They don't understand someone else's logic or actions. Sometimes you need your rational brain to see things from a different perspective. ⠀
Also, news flash, there are a lot of people in this world who do not operate from a place of emotion and feelings. (as much as we may think they should!) In order to understand their perspective, we may need to use our rational brain. ⠀
People may hurt you. Maybe the do it because they are jerks, or maybe they had no intention to cause you pain. Either way, don't waste your feelings on someone who won't appreciate the sacred place your emotions are coming from or the power behind them.

I’m so glad I’m that “what you see is what you get” type of person. I’m not going to hold my tongue to tell you how I feel. I don’t need to talk to others and twist the reality of what the truth is. I don’t need to lie about what it is. If I’m wrong I say it, if I’m right you will never see me apologize. One thing for sure is, I have the biggest heart, but when your mask is unveiled and the real you comes out....expect me to call a spade a spade. There are no illlusions. I’m a warrior and it’s deep in my soul. If you think sly tactics captivate me....your wrong....I always WIN!!! That’s what a true warrior does. There is nothing stopping the UNSTOPPABLE. I got GOD on my side. Let me just spit this real quick....what is done in darkness....will always come to light!!! It’s #BookFanaticFriday ! Today’s book...Turtles All The Way Down by John Green. It’s an honest and raw look into a teenage girl’s life as she struggles with a high level of anxiety. The book follows her through ups and downs, love and hate, friendship and isolation.
My Favorite Quote: “Every loss is unprecedented. You can’t ever know someone else’s hurt, not really.” I love it because it is true! We can be with someone and join them in their pain and sorrow, but we will never fully know what it is like to be them.
What I Love: As a therapist, I see truly misunderstood teens in my office all the time. Their anxiety is taken for disobedience, defiance, weakness or drama. When in reality, they are hurting and may not necessarily have the means to express it. The authenticity of the character’s feelings shines through in this book. And I am grateful to writers that speak to the true nature of the struggle (and how to get help!).
What Is Not My Favorite: as a person who has struggled with anxiety myself, I had a hard time managing my own anxiety around this book. This is in no way a fault of the author’s! I say this only to make others that struggle with anxiety aware that it may stir your own emotions. It is that well written! However, if you are a parent of a teenager that deals with anxiety I highly recommend you read this book and maybe be open to responding to your teens in a different manner. It never hurts to consult a therapist in this area as well 😉.

Make a commitment! -
When you feel stuck or torn between two possibilities, make a commitment and follow through with an easy goal supporting that commitment. -
If you mess up and don't complete the goal, look at WHY you didn't follow through. Look at WHAT you can do to add supports to increase the likelihood of accomplishing your goal. -
If you need to break down your goal into bite size chunks, do it. -
However, if there seems to consistently be something in the way, chances are there's something subconscious going on. Seek a therapist to help uncover that road block.
Millennials and GenZ want value before making most decisions that involve money. Reviews and bios on a website aren't enough anymore. They want to feel a connection.
