This is me IRL. I post a lot of fitness pics because that’s what my page is about. But that’s about 10% of what makes up my reality. Being a private person, I just choose not to share most things here 😉
In actuality, I have a corporate job. Fitness is not my primary income source and never has been, even when I had a lot of sponsors. I tried being a personal trainer for a bit, but it wasn’t for me. At the time, I was heavily competing and being in the gym all day made my hobby blend with my job and I got burnt out. I prefer to keep the gym as my happy place, not my place of business!
And I don’t bring my gym life into the corporate world either. In fact, I never tell anyone that I compete. It was fine when I was in sales (it was a great conversation starter and no one ever forgot me!) but not in analytics where I currently work. God forbid my work ever suffer...I wouldn’t want them to blame it on the fact that I have a demanding hobby outside of work.
My job requires intense focus and critical thinking, and for this reason my diet must always support mental clarity. Even if it takes a longer prep, I’ve always told my coach that my work performance can’t suffer. No zero carb days for me!
I’m sharing this today because I think it’s important to keep perspective. Your job, your family, your relationships allow you to compete. Let any of them suffer and you won’t have a very happy life to come back to when your season is over. Competing to me is like a little vacation from real life. But it’s not the entirely of who I am. Not even close! My real life - the world I live in on a daily basis - is my primary focus. That’s allowed me to be happy and successful on stage and off. Just a lil food for thought this lovely Monday 😉🙏🏻💕 #perspective#selfie#workflow#balance
There’s nothing like a #BathroomSelfie to show yourself your new identity! I’m standing in my richness today (hence the green) and ready to receive all of today’s wonders.
I’m learning to take the bitter with the sweet, the good and bad days and the ups and downs. No matter who we are, we ALL go through them. No more comparing to others. I’m learning to embrace who I am and strive to be an even better person. It’s all about progression and not perfection for me.
45 lbs down, no more weekly migraines and extra energy, additional income and some pretty kick ass rockstars on my team is definitely a start! ;) What are you breaking through today?
