Food is so readily available, delicious and hard to resist. It’s a big reason there is an obesity epidemic. It makes sense that working on improving your eating environment at home and improving your choices when eating out can help lead to better decisions that can help you stay more consistent with your fat loss goals and build life long habits to help maintain it.

I’ve given just a few examples of ways to help improve your eating environment at home without going into too much detail. Your social environment also plays a big part and is arguably harder to manage. That’s why I included being mindful about your choices when eating out.

Meal plans are, for the most part, pretty sucky 👎...

Most of the time, you're just paying someone way too much money to piece together foods & meals that hit a calorie/macro range that should (theoretically) help someone with your current stats lose weight.
- 
But in my opinion, what's worse than the outrageous price you pay for something that takes 5 minutes to make is the fact that meal plans are pretty much useless for long-term success.

Sure, you might lose a few pounds if you follow the plan perfectly, but therein lies the problem. The ONLY way a meal plan will work is if it's followed to the "T" each and every day.
- 
Which is why they usually don't work ❌. Usually, one of two things happen...
- 
1️⃣ stuff comes up and you go off the plan, which is followed by cycles of being "ON" and "OFF" the plan.
2️⃣ You stick to it perfectly, but inevitably stop making progress and aren't sure what you should do to continue seeing changes

Now, having said all that, I DO think meal plans can be beneficial, especially for folks who're busy and don't have time to be constantly thinking about what's next on the menu.

The trick is for YOU to be in charge of creating them based on your lifestyle and preferences. What's more, they should be flexible for when things come up, and you need to adjust.

These four steps are perfect for building your own personalized fat loss meal plan. You might be thinking, "This is a bit simple, isn't it Carter?..." and that's exactly the point!

Exactly a year in the difference, end of last years cut vs end of this years.

Don’t see much difference?
Well there’s not.
Last year I cut to 78.5kg, this year to 80.1kg. I was slightly leaner this year so I’m saying it was about 2 kg of muscle gain. That’s in the 40 weeks between the end of last years cut and the start of this years. Breaking that down again, that’s about 0.2kg of muscle gain a month. I might not have bulked in the most optimal way but that’s still actually a decent return for someone training consistently for over 5 years.
Once you get past the beginner gains stage you have to accept that things slow down a lot. This is where you have to be even more consistent to see results. If I gained 0.2kg of muscle a month every month for the next 5 years I’d be delighted but I won’t... things will likely slow down even more. 
But it’s all part of it. If I never gained another ounce of muscle I’d still happily train 4-6 times a week for the rest of my life😄

CV fitness has improved nicely over the past few weeks, still sticking to 3 days a week (all about that heart health yo). Mixing it up today with 10 x 2 min rounds on the bag switching between heavy and more technical rounds. Footwork and agility still need work though 🥊.

I’m not really one for these social media challenges… But a dear friend from back home forwarded me this challenge from the fellas at @kettlebellkings. 50 SWINGS FOR 30 DAYS. I thought, heh, why not!? It could be a way for me to connect with my friend from back home who I miss training with, a good test of diligence for me, a little experiment to see what comes up, see how my hammys feel after, a nice way to finish off my other training... can’t hurt!

With no moral support from my friend who initially suggested it (love ya @guidedbymotion @ray.yee :) it was mostly just me, solo in the gym, feeling tired after training clients, and then training myself. Tired (hungry) me, and this freaking somewhat annoying daily challenge that I couldn’t quit once I started.

WHAT I LEARNED:
Challenges are hard! 🙄🙃🤔
I have a very loud voice in my head that tries to talk me out of things. I think just holding myself accountable to this small thing I didn’t really want to do DAILY was good for me to experience. It would take just over 1 minute of my day, and it wasn’t THAT hard.. sure I’d be a little winded after, or it felt tougher some days.. but it was the mental battle that I fought daily to get it done which I found both annoying and interesting. Besides a few elimination diets for a gut/habit reset, I have never really done anything like this! SOOOO I recommend it! See how you confront your own shit 🤔

I challenge YOU to Pick a thing. 
Pick ANYTHING to change your behavior/routine/etc consistently for 30 days. Tell someone you love them daily, don’t buy coffee, give alcohol a break, walk for 20mins/day, read 5 pages of your book, go to bed at the same time... WHATEVER the thing is, I think you will learn something about your brain, and I think it’s kinda healthy (at the very least interesting) to confront that part of you that doesn’t want to. Let me know how it goes!
