Day seventeen, concept album:
The Antlers - Hospice LP, 2009: this record is one of the most incredible listens you will ever experience. It tells the tale of a self-destructive relationship between a terminally ill patient and a hospice worker. It's stunning and raw. Lyrically and musically, Peter Silberman has crafted something I consider to be unrivaled. I know of no other record to be as heartbreaking and hauntingly beautiful.
Picked up in @tommygunrecords in Hobart, Tasmania.
NEW MUSIC UPDATE
We've been working on a rather secretive project for a while now, but with today being World Oceans Day, it feels like the right time to start revealing some details.
For the better part of a year we've been working on a 2-EP "concept record" about oceans, water, technology, biology, and the proliferation of life. There's a bit more to it than that, but those are the main themes we'll explore.
The first ep is going to be called "Of Water". We're aiming to have it out in late summer or early autumn (for those in the Northern Hemisphere). Better yet, the first single will be coming along in the next 2-3 weeks to give you a taste of things to come.
To not be complete and total teases, we've put together this video, that illustrates some of our artistic direction, accompanied by a live snippet of a yet-to-be-released song.
Happy first birthday to Corpora - Impulse! This was a musical project that came from a time of depression and chaos and I am very grateful for what it taught me. It's available for free everywhere digital music is sold or streamed. Enjoy. Would love to play some Corpora shows in 2017! #corporamusic#corpora
"The Stage" - @avengedsevenfold
WRITTEN BY: Kass
The time has finally come for all the Avenged Sevenfold fans who have been waiting for 3 years! Announced at a show last night, A7X surprised the world by releasing their latest album. Don't worry! We were just as surprised at the news as you are.
Two weeks ago, the band released a song entitled 'The Stage' with a music video, following rumors about the deathbat logo appearing all over the world. An announcement by the band said that the latest project was a new album, set to drop in December was going to be called 'Volcaic Oceans'. 'The Stage' was quite a surprise, but after hearing the record from start to finish, it's evident that the 3 year hiatus was non-hindering to A7X's creative nature.
M. Shadow's voice is unmistakable, and his vocals on this record are a powerhouse to be reckoned with. Synyster Gates is a veteran when it comes to laying down the sickest guitar licks in modern metal music. This record encompasses his impeccable skill sets while proving why he is second to none.
The tracklist for 'The Stage' is as follows:
The concept for this record is far different in terms of what A7X has to say both lyrically and metaphorically. This album explores several ideas that people usually don't discuss, which is why the band chose such controversial topics as the basis for this album.
For example, songs like 'Paradigm', is talking about nanobots and how they are being created to cure diseases that are virtually "impossible" to cure, and they introduce the idea of imortality. But, if you are 70% robot and 30% human, do you lose yourself? 'Creating God' explores the idea that computers are being built to be smarter than man. Eventually, there will come a time when technology will overpower mankind, and it's our duty as humans to remember who holds the power. Metaphorically speaking, humans "worship" technology like a God, therefore, giving it the ultimate power over us. (Continued in comments!)
