Hand in hand, two young South Sudanese children walk through Juba's Protection of Civilians site.
Since December 2013, brutal conflict in South Sudan has claimed thousands of lives and driven nearly four million people from their homes. It is reported that almost two million people are internally displaced, many of whom have sought safety in temporary Protection of Civilians sites.
In Juba, we are supporting over 38,000 people living in these sites with shelter and nutrition interventions. We're also supporting approximately 4,500 people living in marginalised areas of the capital, outside of the sites.
I keep rewriting this caption because I’m not sure I’ll ever find the words to explain just how lucky I feel to have a group of girlfriends like this crew. You truly know how to make a bride feel loved. As I held back tears saying bye to each of you today, I also feel grateful to be going home to my future husband and a new apartment to start the next chapter of our lives. As one door closes, another one opens (literally). This weekend will forever hold a special place in my heart. #nixongotscooped#bridetribe#civilians#squad#newhomesweethome
One thing I can’t understand is that many of the same people that supported the Syrian airstrikes because they think Assad gassed his own citizens are fine with what Israel and Saudi Arabia have done. Even though the Assad gas attack was a false flag let’s just pretend and say he did actually gas his own citizens. This would’ve been a move to kill a terrorist group as there are many in Syria but it unfortunately killed civilians. Now he didn’t do the gas attack I gave Posts from weeks ago debunking that Assad gassed his own citizens. But couldn’t the same apply with Israel. Israel has killed and injured many innocent Palestinian protestors. I realize some of them are Hamas, but shouldn’t that fall under the same circumstance as Assad because innocent people still died in this claim? Israel killed and injured unarmed protesters, children, babies, people in wheelchairs, and women so it’s not all Hamas. The same situation should also apply with Saudi Arabia where their missile strikes have been intended to kill Houthis and some of them have, but yet most of the deaths have been innocent civilians. Under the same circumstances where people such as neocons wanted to attack Assad for the alleged chemical attack, shouldn’t that mean we should attack Israel and Saudi Arabia? As a side note no I don’t want to attack Saudi Arabia or Israel but we should tell them to stop killing innocent people.
