FÉLIX: Located at 550 King St. @felixcharleston is a Parisian-inspired cocktail bar with small plates. The bright and elegant restaurant is one of my absolute favorites. It is anchored by a rounded bar that can seat 18. Pops of colbalt blue make the 51-seat dining room come alive. My food recommendations are: the raclette burger 🍔, the gnocchi, the fromage fort, and lobster deviled eggs. Y’all have to check this place out! It’s SO good!
Charleston: SC: The first thing that popped into my mind when I ate the Oat Cake at Husk was "I want to eat this for breakfast every day for the rest of my life." It stands true. I had never heard of Oat Cake, but luckily the Sunday Brunch menu item caught my eye. "Anson Mills Steel Cut Oak Cake, Buttermilk Frosting, Dewberries, Husk Granola, Hickory Syrup." The sweet and crunchy ingredients worked together like a dream, and I can still remember vividly remember the taste. As cool as the daily changing menus are, it makes me a little anxious to think I might never taste this delicious combo again! Even if this exact item isn't on your menu, you will not regret dining at Husk. Make a reservation exactly 60 days before you'll be there (which is as soon as it appears on Open Table.) We were very happy to "settle" for brunch, but if your heart is set on dinner, line up around 5:00, as they do take a handful of walk-ins when they open for dinner at 5:30. #hungerlustSC#husk#huskcharleston
Rainy days were made for "feel-good" meals. Start dinner with our Fruit de Mer Crostini adorned with shrimp, clams, mussels, and crab. (Swipe ⬅️) Follow up with succulent Braised Duck and Truffle Gnocchi, accompanied by SC asparagus, ramp greens, beech mushrooms and shaved Parmesan!
Charleston, SC: King street is the best place in town to stroll aimlessly. Lined with bars, restaurants, and shops, you could easily show up with no plans and find plenty to entertain yourself! Most of the places we found in our trip research or had recommended to us were either on King Street or around East Bay Street in the south east corner of the peninsula. Darling Oyster was our dinner spot for Saturday night, and was an adorable spot where they shuck oysters in front of you. Make sure to order the clam chowder over fries - it sounds strange and soggy but was DELICIOUS! #hungerlustSC#kingstreet#darlingoysterbar
Charleston, SC: The days of farmers markets are on their way back soon!! Loved wandering around Charleston's sunny market last weekend (and eating this delicious donut of course.) Do you have a favorite farmers market you've been to on your travels or at your home? I loved checking out the Richmond, Virginia farmer's market last fall. #hungerlustSC#charlestonfarmersmarket#donuts 🍩
Charleston, SC: Sugar snap peas were the culinary theme of our weekend! They were in season, and almost every restaurant we went to incorporated them in some way. At FIG (which stands simply for Food Is Good) the peas were an appetizer that our waitress recommended ordering as a side. She even joked that chef may have bought up every pea in town, but she was wrong! We had pea purée at Husk on a savory funnel cake, and we sipped a sugar snap pea cocktail at the Gin Joint. The other Charleston trend I was introduced to at FIG was the prevalence of a daily menu! See it stamped at the top? This isn't common at all in Chicago and really made me realize how fresh and creative so many of the menu items were. #hungerlustSC#sugarsnappeas#charlestoneats
