Diet soda gets a bad rap from its main ingredient: artificial sweeteners.

Now, I’m not saying you should drink a metric fuck ton of diet soda - but you shouldn’t be afraid of consuming it.
_
Studies done on the consumption of diet soda and artificial sweeteners have inconsistent data and nothing to date is solid enough evidence to show that either *causes* adverse health effects. 
_
However, what we do know to be true, is overconsumption of calories leads to obesity and metabolic diseases. 
_
So if you’re someone who is concerned with fat loss and you enjoy having soda from time to time, swapping to diet soda is great option to help save you calories! 
_
If you’re someone concerned about long term health and not so much about fat loss, having diet soda in moderation would be a good idea. 
_
Bottom line: it’s not bad in moderation and when used to spare calories. You should still drink primarily water, unsweetened tea and black coffee. But ultimately, whatever you’ll adhere to is the best approach. 
_
Me? I’ll be drinking an ice cold diet beverage with some popcorn this weekend watching the new @avengers movie!

So I made my own cleaners with vinegar, baking soda, and essential oils. Worked great, but my house smelled like pickles. That was until I discovered OnGuard cleaner concentrate. Now I use that for pretty much all my cleaning. Smells good enough to eat. I just dilute with water to the desired level of concentration in a glass spray bottle. Love the fact that this is significantly reducing the amount of waste the cleaning product containers produce.

Oh Man!  Double post, no warning!  Wanted to share this gem.  My coworker bought everyone Sonic burgers for lunch.  I don't generally eat things like that, my stomach just doesn't appreciate it all that much anymore.  But it took 114 floors to burn less than half of those calories! I’m living off the health food store salads this week for lunch.  This week is busier than normal and it’s SO nice to just run in and fix myself a healthy organic salad. .
And YES that is 3 boiled eggs!! Eggs are a great source of protein and healthy essential fatty acids. In fact, pastured, free range eggs have a great balance of Omega 3s to Omega 6s. (Conventional/grocery store eggs have high Omega 6 to Omega 3 ratio). Omega 6s can be inflammatory which is why it is important to be in the right balance with Omega 3s. .
And if you’re worried about the cholesterol in eggs, don’t.  Many properly facilitated studies have shown that eating cholesterol rich foods (from good sources) does not increase cholesterol significantly or correlate with heart disease. (Processed carbohydrates and sugars and industrialized oils can though). .

Staring at my breakfast plate this morning and reflecting. If you had told me a year ago I’d be eating cooked chicken and spinach for breakfast I would have said, “No way!”😯 (I was an eggs and toast girl.) Enter Hashimotos and my gut healing journey. A year ago I said NO MORE to feeling tired and exhausted all the time and doing things that damage my gut, my thyroid and my overall health. I chose to learn more about gut healing. I slowly cut out gluten, dairy, soy, and have tried really hard to limit processed sugar. 😉

You guys. It was hard! I miss pizza. 🍕But...do I miss how awful bread and cheese make me feel? No way!! Do I miss ice cream? 🍨Absolutely! But...I do not miss feeling sluggish and bloated!! Nothing tastes as good as healthy feels! Every day I have to make that choice. 
And while I cut OUT what made me feel bad, I began to put IN what made me feel great!! 🙌 That’s a CHOICE too. The diet changes I made certainly helped some, but I was still tired and had other health struggles. I am so thankful that adding fabulous plant based supplements to my daily routine has helped me in a way that just changing my diet alone could not do.

For most of my life I’d eaten what sounded good or what I was in the “mood” for rather than CHOOSING what I knew was nutritious and good for me. Once I realized that delicious AND nutritious can and do go together, I began experimenting with foods in order to make them more breakfasty. Honestly, I think that’s one of the perks about brunching,  combing the sweetness of morning with the savoriness of lunch.

Why do I take so many before and after pictures?

Because there’s more than one way to see change as I move through different workout programs and try various eating/nutrition plans. 😘

Today we started a new 8-week Pilates/Yoga fusion program and I wanted to get my baseline “before picture.” 😊

I can still see the progress I made after finishing the intense 80 days of workouts and following a timed nutrition approach to fueling my body. 💪🏼 That said, after splurging some on our family vacation last week in Mexico, I am not quite where I was before we left. 🌴

Such is life. 🌤

Fitness and healthy eating is a journey. 🛣

And I always feel excited and optimistic at the beginning of a new stage of mine. 😆

I am continuing to follow a version of the timed nutrition/eating plan from the program we just finished, until next week when a new “nutrition only” program is coming out that I can’t wait to try. 💚

The program is focused on how our mindset impacts our eating. 💡

Having struggled with emotional eating throughout my life, I know this could be a game changer for me, as I’ve heard it has already been for those lucky enough to be in the “test group,” who got to try it before anyone else. 😍

Some of my clients and the coaches on our team will be doing this new mindful eating program together in a private accountability group.
