There are so many things about the shape of this pose that speak to the idea of finding calm in the chaos, overcoming fear, and the simple feeling that yeah...I can do this (woo!). Epstein Barr Virus

It is estimated that 90% of the population has Epstein Barr Virus. It is a virus that is commonly transmitted through bodily fluids, known as “kissing disease”. Most individuals get EBV when they are young and don’t even know they have it. The concern with EBV is its ability to mimic other infections. It’s often associated or misdiagnosed as a common cold or allergy.

It’s main association is with mononucleosis , a condition with signs and symptoms such as:
1. swollen lymph nodes 
2. sore throat
3. fever
4. enlarged spleen
5. rash
6. CHRONIC FATIGUE THAT DOES NOT 
IMPROVE
7. LOW CHRONIC THYROID HORMONE
LEVELS

Testing for EBV is a simple blood test that scans for the protein coat remnants and antibodies associated with EBV. Every virus has a protein “coat”, just like a raincoat. When the virus dies off, the shell of the virus can float around in the blood. Since the shell is foreign, the body can create antibodies to the outer coating. Additionally if the virus is live then the body will produce antibodies toward the live virus itself. These components of the EBV can be tested with a VCA (viral capsid antigen) test, which checks for the protein coats of the virus. If you have:
Chronic fatigue
Low thyroid function
Cold hands and feet
Chronic food sensitivities/allergens
Waking up always tired

As I study different modalities, philosophies and life, I have found that elements are brought up in most places. Elements are the basic building blocks of astrology where we have fire, air, water and earth that are connected to each sign. In Ayurveda, the sister science of Yoga, we also work with elements; air, water, earth, fire and ether. In traditional Chinese medicine we have the elements Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water. I am right now reading the book Soul Signs by Rosemary Altea where she explains that even our soul can be grouped into an element. The elements fascinate me and when I see nature, I also see elements. There is the wind, the oceans, the fire from the sun and the ground we walk on, earth. Even if our soul is made from infinite and unperishable materia, our body is still made form this earth and all the materia that was gathered from the universe into this earth. Our body is not disconnected from earth, as it is made up from all the materia that is within the ground, in the air, in the plants etc. Therefore we must inhibit these traits and elements that we can find around us. We contain all of the elements and it is the elements that make our physical body work. It is what enables us to walk, breathe, digest, for the heart to pump blood and for us to stay connected on top of earth. This is why I think that we can start seeing the connection between our body and health, and the elements that we ingest through foods, through other people and through nature. In Ayurveda, we want to try to complete our own elements with foods that create balance by bringing in other elements. So if you are airy (vata), you need more grounding foods such as root vegetables. If you are more earthy (kapha), you need lighter foods such as leafy greens and soups. If you are fiery (pitta), you need foods that are more cooling such as fresh and raw foods. I am currently trying to eat a Vata pacifying diet so that I can balance the airy side of me. Our body is not disconnected from earth, as it is made up from all the materia that is within the ground, in the air, in the plants etc. Therefore we must inhibit these traits and elements that we can find around us. We contain all of the elements and it is the elements that make our physical body work. It is what enables us to walk, breathe, digest, for the heart to pump blood and for us to stay connected on top of earth. This is why I think that we can start seeing the connection between our body and health, and the elements that we ingest through foods, through other people and through nature. In Ayurveda, we want to try to complete our own elements with foods that create balance by bringing in other elements. So if you are airy (vata), you need more grounding foods such as root vegetables. If you are more earthy (kapha), you need lighter foods such as leafy greens and soups. If you are fiery (pitta), you need foods that are more cooling such as fresh and raw foods. I am currently trying to eat a Vata pacifying diet so that I can balance the airy side of me. A year ago I got on a flight to China and my whole world changed. China was wonderful in countless ways - the incredible people I met, doctors I worked with, places I visited, etc. But China was also incredibly difficult. The year leading up to the trip was grueling, and I set China as the carrot on the string. I just had to get through everything else, and then I‘d get to go to China - the place where I would begin to recover from all the negligence I put myself through. I imagined an 8-week stretch of feeling good, mostly because I was just so fucking tired of feeling bad.

In reality, things were about to get worse before they got better. I crawled to what I thought was the finish line to realize, dude... you can even see the finish line from here. ——————————————————————————
Looking back, I see how necessary it was. At the time, I thought I was going to China to get stuff. Get a sense of wholeness back, get a feeling of fun and joy back, get a sense of real connection back... It turns out I didn’t take this trip to get, but to let (go). I started losing everything I envisioned for the experience, and while that was frightening, it was exactly what I had asked for. Sometimes it just takes a lot longer and is a lot more painful to suck all the poison out than you’d like, but you don’t get to dictate the nature of that experience. ——————————————————————————
When I look in the mirror a year later, I see how those things I went to “get” have slowly returned. My brain has remembered how to pump out dopamine again. It doesn’t take me forever to get out of bed because I’m waking up inside a life I’m excited to be living. My life is fuller than ever of people who understand and are moving in the same direction as me. It’s all good. ——————————————————————————
The Process... it’s so hard to trust because you can’t see it all at once, and sometimes you just don’t see until you see. But when you do, when the mysterious, maddening frustration collapses into a pattern that served your growth - that’s a fucking trip.

🍏🍇🍊🍒🥝🍍 Wieviel Zeit nehmt ihr euch eigentlich für euer Frühstück? Uns fällt es manchmal schwer, im Alltag schon so früh morgens Zeit für uns einzuplanen. Aber es gelingt immer einfacher, wenn wir merken, wie anders wir in den Tag starten, wenn wir unserem Körper etwas Gutes tun. Es ist wichtig, genug Energie zu haben, um die Aufgaben des Tages zu bewältigen. Horcht mal in euch hinein und schaut, ob ihr herausfinden könnt, was euch morgens gut tut. Beim Essen ist Ruhe ganz besonders wichtig. Geschmäcker und Konsistenz werden ganz anders wahrgenommen, wenn wir uns bewusst Zeit nehmen und uns auf die Nahrung konzentrieren. Habt ihr schon einmal was von der Apfelmeditation gehört? Nehmt euch dafür einmal bewusst 15 Minuten Zeit, um einen Apfel zu essen. Schließt die Augen, riecht erst einmal an eurem Apfel (welche Bilder entstehen in eurem Kopf? Bäume, Wiesen, etc.?), fühlt ihn, ist er rauh oder glatt? Und dann esst ihn in aller Ruhe und nehmt bei jedem Bissen wahr, was euch begegnet. Moxibustion is an ancient method to relieve and cure symptoms (Traditional Chinese Medicine has a focus on symptoms). Artemisia is used for moxibustion. The nature of Artemisia is hot and dry. This makes it very good at dealing with metabolic symptoms caused by inner cold, inner humidity and infections.
We burn the powder of Artemisia on specific Chi points to warm them. This drives away inner coldness and inner humidity  in order to achieve smooth Chi flow. This is the mechanism of moxibustion.
However, please be careful as moxibustion is not suited to everyone and only specific Chi points can be used. Its use has to be assessed carefully by specialists.
