Man I’m going stir crazy! It’s been way too long since I’ve been able to look at a view like this, way too long! I know so many people that just don’t understand why I would choose to go out and run 2-3 miles on my spare time, or do Crossfit classes 3-4 times per week, it’s to be able to go where there are no trails and see views that no one else gets to see, not only now, but 30 years from now. The climb up to this perch was rough, especially with a loaded pack and rifle. Had rocks bouncing past me from above and if you bit the dust you’d be lucky if you only rolled 20 feet down the mountain. Crazy thing is I had to climb this twice and if things didn’t come together on that day, I would have been doing it every day until it did. #mountaingoathunting#goingstircrazy#omenicamountains#crossfithunter#britishcolumbiahunting#thingswedoforfun
Had an amazing trip into the Northern Canadian back country. As most of you know, this trip was 2 years in the making. Knowing mountain goat hunting is regarded as the most physical hunt in North America I rededicated my every day life to include physical fitness to prepare for this journey. After 100s of hours and 1000s of reps in the gym I can say I needed every one of them and then some. Mountain training can't be simulated in the gym, you can really only prepare for it by being in the mountains. I had a lot of successes and failures during these 10 days. I hiked 97.5 miles in 10 days and climbed over 10,000 vertical feet. Very little of the terrain was flat and all of it was done with a pack. My body is covered in bruises, scratches, and bug bites and I wouldn't trade a single one of them. I put my body through a blender and came out stronger. I saw the Northern Lights, drank water straight from mountain streams without having to filter, saw 2 grizzly bears, slept on a mountain side under a home made shelter, and got to hang out with two of the hardest working guys I've ever met. Not to mention I filled two of my tags and am bringing back meat for the freezer! This was definitely a once in a lifetime trip and the hardest 10 days of my life physically, emotionally, and mentally. Thank you to everyone that had a part in getting me ready and through this. Couldn't wait to get back to Canada to test out our new Rambo electric bikes! Had to make a pit stop in Montana once we came a crossed this terrain! Thanks Zach for hooking us up , these will be perfect for the restricted areas in the hunting territory ! Went 3 miles up and down hills with out even breaking a sweat ! #rambobikes#montana#britishcolumbiahunting#huntingmadeeasy
Time and patience finally paid off tonight and I was fortunate to get a 280 yard shot at this guy. He didn't go far but rolled down a steep embankment about 80 yards and it took some time to retrieve him. It was a fantastic night!
The only thing that made it better was coming home to our kids and their friends lined up waiting for us. Seeing the pride and excitement on their faces made my day.
We're a happy and very grateful family once again tonight! #britishcolumbiahunting#momswhohunt#extremehuntress
