From this past weekend's (pre-glow in the dark dance party) brew pub adventures @goodwordbrewing. My house brewed red berliner weisse totally brought up ALL the memories of last summer in Berlin. I wanna go back!
Devil's Chair IPA by Red Cypress Brewery
ABV: 6% IBU: 55
I finally tracked this bad boy down at a local bottle shop. So, that means I will complete the offerings of this brewery off my list.
However since I hyped it up so much in my mind all this time as my white whale. That can only mean it wouldn’t live up to it.... and I was right.
This is a very fruit forward IPA; blood oranges, tangerine, passion fruit hints of pineapple riding on a bready malt base. As well some bitterness and light pine notes following through into taste.
Even if you poured aggressively, the lighter carbonation never let the white head foam up too much. Almost becoming an omen to the thin mouthfeel of this IPA.
In the end, they say never meet your hero’s, because they will never live up to the pedastool you placed them on in your heart. If I can be honest this brew was kinda lackluster for me. The artwork would have you feeling something sinister is lurking in that can, but, it’s just a mild fruity pale ale.
I give it a mild recommendation 👍🏼
They say your 200th post brings you good luck! Actually, we’ve never heard anyone say that before. In fact, if that nearly empty glass Adam’s holding is any indication, we’re in trouble! 😳 Happy Memorial Day Weekend anyways! May your glass be full and tasty! 🍺
