“Your camera is better than Ansel’s”. I watched a video with this title yesterday and it got me thinking. We look at these legends of photography who took some of the most famous photos ever on old film large format cameras that were challenging to adapt to different conditions. Today, we have sensors on cameras that can be manipulated to capture any scene, and what it can’t capture can be edited in post. People get so caught up in the technology, but I have been trying to direct my focus on understanding composition and lighting to improve my photography. Looking at the work of Ansel Adams and Salgado and Cartier-Bresson helps me understand and learn a lot about how I approach a scene. The camera is a means to an end, and it doesn’t matter what you were using as long as you capture a striking image. What do you all think of this? Comment below!
