Last of the double dip run weekend . today moved the distance up a notch. 13.1 mies was great. Been a long time since i put long distance to tempo hence i started off with a good hi tempo first half of the race staying under 50 min then legs got heavy though strong . my wind endurance spot on. Last half of the race i didnt push the pace so i can finish good without getting too much slower so i tapped the breaks a lil and stayed even but strong thanks to crosstraining not breaking form . enjoyed that including the beach. Santa monica is beautiful. Recovere fast and well telling me im def in shape. Stay busy yall #blackmenrunlosangeles#blackmenrun#lunarsrunninggroup
Over the moon to get a sub 1:40, I thought those days were long gone. Lost the 1:40 pacer at the start, didn't panic as I had a good idea of the pace I needed to maintain. I expected to fade at around the 8/9 mile mark, but much to my surprise I was able to maintain a constant and even pace to the end. Now time to refuel😁😁😁
It’s time to do things I’ve never done, go places I’ve never been, challenge myself to go, be uncomfortable. I’m doing a triathlon next month— my 1st. There are certain aspects of this race I’m not sure of. I won’t have all the high tech, light weight gear that everyone else has, but I will do this.... just because of that small voice that says I can’t. Challenges vs opportunities. #blacktriathlete#triathlon#nuunlife#blackmenrun#fsseries1206#procompressionambassador
Recap of the Popular Brooklyn Half Marathon
The weather was so undelightful and people starting to freeze was becoming frightful. At that point, I was ready to go; ready to go, ready to go, ready to go!
I've said this once and I know I've said it twice: I don't mind so much to run in cold or in a light rain, but both cold and rain together don't mix. Arrrgh! That was a nice intro to say this was my first time running this event. Outside of the weather, I can tell that it actually is a nice race. The plan was to enjoy a visit to Coney Island at the finish line, but being cold and beyond damp put it's own damper on that plan. We did get a reprieve from the rain after exiting Prospect Park at mile seven to only encounter it again in mile twelve. And it was enhanced by the wind driving down the hill from across the East River/harbor inlet. Hills. Did I forget that the straight, tree-lined Ocean Parkway was not flat. Several loooooong sloping hills entertained our legs with sugar plums of fiery glee. I do recall several people saying prior to the race, "Have fun, Wil!" I most certainly did as I happily cursed every mile of hills. I will run this one again. Hopefully without my nemesis, Mother Nature. She may have tossed the gauntlet this morning, but I dropped the hammer. Good fight, but she did not rule my day. ⚡⚡⚡ 13.25 miles / 56.66 MTD
Gotta give God the glory. Just finished my 1st half marathon! Less than ideal conditions with rain, not quite my target time, but happy with 1:42:15. Congrats to all the other runs too! Thanks to everyone tracking me and everyone who came out @sandy.blakney. RIP to my Nike Free Runs. #blackmenrun#popularbkhalf#halfmarathon#thoughtiwasgoingtodie
