Awesome “Tune Up” yesterday at McLeod Chiropractic with Dr. Laura Block. I am not one to promote a service or product unless I believe in it and use it myself. I have been to more than 12 different Chiropractors in my life. Out of all of them there are two that I love going to. Dr Block & Dr Pethrick. Both have provided a high value of service EVERY TIME I have gone there. My visits are always worth the travel and time in the treatment room. They talk to me about what’s going on and address multiple areas and issues I’m having. I have NEVER felt like I was on the clock and and that I wasn’t worth spending more than two minutes on (like many other places I’ve been to). I’m posting this because seeing these two practitioners provide me with a great amount of value every-time I see them and that goes a long way. There are good trainers and bad trainers, there are good gyms and bad gyms, there are good doctors and bad doctors. Sometimes you have to go through a few to find the good ones. When you find the right ones that provide you with the value, care and service you deserve, it will be worth it. The plank is one pose that shows no mercy for progress shots.  It won’t give you one good angle unless you put the work in. 
I’ve been distracted from my routine dealing with some very emotional family priorities and to say my moral has been down would be accurate.  I took a moment today to do a current progress comparison and see if I have thrown away my efforts.  This was a  reminder that even when life happens and we fall off for a week or two all of our gains don’t just disappear .... I’ll slowly get back to myself and my routine but until then I still feel good about how far I have come from the above pic on November 29, 2017.  Life will knock you down and that’s okay as long as you get back up!

This little man was Mama's cheerleader today (along with my hunky coach @vet_papa )

I'm 5.5 months postpartum and am ready to start lifting again with an increase in volume and weight.  But it's a relearning process -- my body has completely transformed and I'm constantly having to tell myself this. 
Today was a simple lift of back squats 5x10.  And the weights that used to be my warm up were a struggle today 😳 
But I'm not in the gym to make it to the games, or to beat my pre-pregnancy lifts;  I'm here to just be better than I was yesterday, and to keep building a healthier me. .

In college I lost 20 pounds by running and cutting calories (mmmm lean pockets) and through most of my 20’s I was constantly paranoid of gaining the weight back.
.
I recently stepped on the scale at the doctor’s and guess what?
.
The weight is officially back! LOL the irony. I’ve gained 15-20 lbs between these pictures (depending on the day) and honestly couldn’t be happier.
.
We always talk about our “fitness journeys” in terms of a linear path and expect that we should always be getting skinnier and leaner and fitter, right? Except that life (and a woman’s body) doesn’t work like that.
.
I want to shake up the wellness industry and be a voice for health and happiness at any and every size and shape and age and background.
.
I want to show women they have so much worth and value beyond the number on the scale or the size of their jeans.
.
I want to prove by example that it IS possible to overcome low self esteem, food guilt, unhealthy obsession with body image, and learn how to fall in love with your LIFE and obsess over your passions and dreams and making an impact instead.
.
It’s also ok to love working out and eating healthy and treating your body from a place of appreciation because you want to push your limits and see how good you can possibly feel. How strong you can get.
.
If hitting the gym for 2 hours a day and scheduling your macros makes you feel like your best most badass warrior goddess self, go for it!
.
If you’re in a season of life where you can’t workout...or 20-30 mins here and there is all your body wants...embrace that too.
.
If you love slim downs and detoxes because they’re fun and give you energy, detox away!
.
If you love your anti-diet culture soapbox, preach away girl!
.
Do what feels good. For you. Right now in this season.
.
Don’t feel like you have to follow the crowd or keep up with your 26 year old self.
.
Permission to crush it.
Permission to be “lazy”
Permission to put your blinders on and never justify or apologize for YOUR decisions.

Let’s just be ourselves and celebrate each other wherever we’re at, yeah?

Sometimes you have to look behind you to see how far you've come. A year and a half ago I struggled with simple things like long hours on my feet and walking far distances with out my feet swelling. It was also difficult to look at myself in the mirror, I would usually avoid them. I was on the fast track to serious health problems. I needed to do something.

Ladies you have 10-20 times less testosterone then men. A hormone that is required to build muscle.

Trust me, I’ve been lifting weights for a while now and I can’t even get fucking big and bulky and apparently according to the doctor my testosterone levels are sky high!

So what makes you think that the moment you pick up a weight suddenly you are going to have a bicep like Arnie. Because if that happens then Susan, tell me your fucking secret.

It’s still pizza, but it’s a pizza that will get you closer to your goals.
