The film earned three Oscars at that year's award ceremony, including a Best Adapted Screenplay trophy for ERNEST THOMPSON's adaptation of his own play, prompting him to joke on the podium that he couldn't wait to "suck face" with everyone at the Governor's ball. The corrupt sheriff is played by #BenCross another Englishman known for #ChariotsofFire and the corrupt treasury employee is paid by yet another Brit #RalphIneson , who's some might know from #readyplayerone#gameofthrones a few #HarryPotter films and BBC's #TheOffice
Hackers and thieves have made sure that a treasury facility will be packed with hundreds of millions of Dollars just before a category 5 hurricane hits. The only people in their way are a meteorologist, his ex-marine brother and a treasury agent.
If you can remember back to 1998, a similar film called #HardRain starring Morgan Freeman and Christian Slater followed a very similar line except this time it was a flood that the thieves were using as their cover for their heist.
#TheHurricaneHeist is going to be one of those love it or loathe it movies. There isn't enough character development, it's very expositional and extremely cheesy but it’s also a movie you can just switch off and have a laugh at while you’re enthralled at the action sequences. It’s a guilty pleasure that’s very easy on the brain and the special effects aren't too bad plenty either.

I've not reviewed a steelbook for a while so decided to review this thing of beauty. It don't know why Chariots of Fire is so good. I just think it is. Certainly the best sporting movie we have ever produced. What I love is how it made a fairly straightforward story into an Oscar Winning movie (yes it won 4 including Best Picture). It covers the rivalry between British runners Eric Liddell and Harold Abrahams right from their early competitions to their first race meeting then the build up and and ensuing conflicts over Liddell's religion and Abrahams relationship and training methods as they prepare to represent Great Britain at the 1924 Olympic games. Once there Liddell is faced with a further conflict when he discovers that the heat for his event will be held on a Sunday. Once again torn between God and the sport he loves he is faced with decision to make. Abrahams meanwhile shows that the hard work has paid off as he becomes the first of only 3 British Sprinters to win the Gold Medal in the 100 metres sprint (Allan Wells and Linford Christie in case you were wondering). Ok maybe this review is slightly biased but I don't care. This is a brilliant movie and the steelbook and artwork are absolutely beautiful. Simple but so effective. Favourite scene? Well it can only be the moment when an ageing Lord Andrew Lindsay talks of being able to "close our eyes and remember. Those few young men. With hope in our hearts. And wings on our heels". Cue that iconic opening sequence!

시사회에 당첨되었지만 블라인드 시사회를 보기 위해 건너뛰고, 지난 주말에 보려고 했지만 예정이 얽혀서 이번 주말에 드디어 보게 되었다.
단순 재난 영화로 생각했는데, 허리케인이라는 자연재해에 범죄와 액션이 더해진 영화였다.
개봉전에는 기대한 영화지만, 평이 안좋아서 기대를 접고 봤다. 직접 보니까 기대 이상의 영화였다.
대략 내용은 이렇다.
윌과 브리즈는 어릴 적에 허리케인으로 인해 아버지를 잃었다. 커서 둘은 각각 기상학자와 수리공이 된다.
초대형 허리케인이 오고 있는 도시는 텅 비어있다. 그 곳에 6억 달러가 보관되어 있는 미 연방 재무부 금고 시설이 있다.
발전기가 고장나서 이 금고를 담당하는 특수 요원 케이시는 수리공인 브리즈를 부르러 잠시 나간다.
그 동안에 금고의 막대한 돈을 노리는 조직이 침입하여 시설을 점거한다.
케이시와 범인들간의 총격전이 펼쳐지고 그 때 브리즈가 인질로 잡힌다.
형을 구하려는 기상학자 윌과 6억 달러와 인질들을 지키려는 재무부 요원 케이시 그리고 케이시를 붙잡아 6억 달러를 손에 넣으려는 조직과의 사투를 담은 영화이다.
이 영화의 러닝타임은 103분이라고 되어 있는데, 실제 영화 시간은 90분 약간 넘더라... 56분에 시작해서 33분인가 그 근처에 쯤에 끝났다.
혹시나 쿠키영상 있나 싶어서 끝까지 앉아 있었는데 없다. 엔딩크레딧 엄청 길던데 나 혼자 끝까지 앉아있었다... 아무 생각 없이 편하게 보기 좋은 오락 영화이다. 가볍게 부담없이 즐기고 오기 좋다.
액션이 엄청 화려하거나 그러진 않지만 상황을 잘 이용한 액션이 돋보였다.
특히 기상학자인 윌의 기지로 허리케인 기압을 이용한다거나 윌이 타고 다니는 특수차량을 이용하여 적을 소탕하는 장면이 멋있었다.
이런 류의 영화는 CG가 정말 중요한데 잘 사용되었다. 실제 허리케인이라고 해도 이상하지 않을 정도로 어색함 없이 자연스럽게 사용됐다. 허리케인의 거대함과 무서움을 잘 알 수 있었고 분위기를 압도했다. 그래서인지 영화 보는내내 시각적으로 보는 맛이 있다.
영화 곳곳에 이걸 영화에 넣었어야 했나 싶은 장면들이 있었다. 형인 브리즈가 인질들을 풀어주려고 하다가 적들에게 눈치채어 실패한 장면이나. 재무부 요원들이 인질로 잡혀있는데 막판에 인질들을 죽인건지 어째선가 나오지 않는지... 이럴거면 인질들 중에 케이시의 연인인 모레노만 살려두고 그냥 처음부터 죽이지 왜 등장한건지 모르겠다.
형인 브리즈가 초반에 잡힐때 시설 내부에서 뭔가 한건 할줄 알았는데, 그냥 아무것도 안보여주고 윌과 케이시가 주된 역할이어서 아쉬웠다.
이 영화를 4dx로 봤으면 더 리얼하고 재밌었을 것 같다. 바람나오고 물튀기고 좌석흔들리고 진짜 제대로였을듯 ㅠㅠ 재난영화, SF, 판타지, 액션 등의 영화는 4D로 봐야 한다. 특히 재난영화는 더더욱이..... 그래서 정말 아쉽다.

MOVIE REVIEW: Skull clouds. Gale force winds during shootouts where every single bullet hits its intended target. People who care more about their cars than their kids. Dangling mid-air in the middle of a hurricane only to land peacefully and relatively unscathed. A dedicated drawer in your truck for your PB&J sandwiches. FUCKING. SKULL. CLOUDS. Sounds like the recipe for a guilty pleasure movie! We have no doubt that #TheHurricaneHeist will become the next "Birdemic" in no time, but we didn't bite. We cringed waaaay more than we laughed at its bad SyFy Channel graphics, terrible and dopey dialogue, and an infinite number of plot holes. Look, we appreciate a shitty disaster movie just like everyone else does, but we'll stick to #Geostorm and its 30+ DUTCHBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOIs. I'm sorry I called #TheHurricaneHeist trash in my story. It was insane! So bad, it's good. Scenery chewing at its finest. A mash up of Twister, Die Hard and Fast Five, it was a blast of a B movie. I had to leave my cynicism at the door. Which I will admit, was hard to do for a lot of the beginning. Once I let go, I. WAS. ON. BOARD. 2 dimensional characters, re-hashed plots and over-used action movie tropes galore, who cares. It's a heist in a fucking hurricane. Like ridiculous movies? Go. Have time for a cheap matinee? Go. Moviepass? Seriously, go. It's so stupid and great. And I actually really enjoyed seeing actors I know in it. Especially since it was multiple Brits and an Aussie playing Alabamians. They love playing southerners! I wouldn't purchase this movie, but I had fun watching it. It was a lot better than the awful and mean-spirited Into the Storm. Sidenote: I'm a secret muscle car/off road vehicle nut and I loved #TobyKebbell 's hurricane-proof truck thing. Итак, что в фильме плохо.
Поначалу немного натужные диалоги. Подоспевший движ поправил всю неловкость, и фильм разошелся, но периодически начинались разговоры по душам, и тогда ощутимо скучнело.
Физика. Физику решили просто игнорировать.
Человек, сгибаясь от ветра бредет по улице, а рядом этот же ветер проносит машину.
Серьезно?
И такое повсюду здесь.
Но что хорошо, при этом они старались подтянуть обоснуй и следовать логике, в плане голода, физических потребностей, грязи, растрепанности... У них даже патроны кончались 👌
Еще хороша сама идея такого ограбления.
Свежо и неглупо.
А еще тут реально крутая противоураганная машина (как ее правильно назвать?)

Еще в плюсы запишу каст. Небесталанные люди собрались. И они смотрелись отлично.
Я шла на фильм ради Мэгги Грэйс, в принципе, она раздражения не вызвала.
Что в итоге. Фильм на один раз, но время потерянным не считаю. Спецэффекты такие, что можно и дома посмотреть.

Look I'm going to be straight with this one. Aesthetically it is a gorgeous film. The music and visuals paired together are striking. The story is super safe, predictable and a bit bland even. Consider the aesthetics the opening ceremonies of the Olympics and the films story the part where you listen to the 20 minute speech during the closing ceremonies that the hosting countries usually do (but for two hours). Coincidentally the winter #Olympics are on now. I hope they go well for all!
