COMMON INJURIES caused by dysfunction in the QL muscle.... Here we have what we call a LATERAL PELVIC TILT (hip hike) where one side is higher than the other causing aches and pains in the lower back..
As we have now established that the QL attaches into the bottom rib and the pelvis and that it is responsible for side bending and bring the knees to the chest we can relate these movements to key actions we do in our daily routine....
Such as RUNNING.. the QL works simultaneously with other core muscles to perform the running movements! We as humans always focus on our DOMINANT SIDE and this will usually be where the QL and other core muscles can become tight due to fatigue and overuse causing imbalances in the muscles. Other activities such as sitting at your desk and on your sofa can cause the QL muscles to reshape and imbalance due to the position YOUR putting them in for a long period of time!!!.
HOW DO WE FIX IT❓❓❓
Lateral pelvic tilt is caused by a combination of both weakness and tightness in various hip muscles!! Usually from muscles such as QL, GLUTE MED and ADDUCTORS.. where one is tight and one is weak a change in posture will occur.. can be from standing on one leg, sleeping on one side or a combination of EVERYTHING!!.
WHY IS IT BAD❓❓❓
A lateral pelvic tilt can cause multiple changes in the whole bodies mechanics meaning imbalances in areas such as foot, knee, hip, spine and neck... (yes pretty much the whole body)❗️❗️.
