Stephanie had disappeared nearly two months ago, storming out of the Manor with nothing but her handbag and a credit card she’d stolen from Bruce after a nasty fight with him had escalated to the point of her throwing a priceless vase at his head. Yet now here she was, sitting on the front steps with a cigarette dangling from her fingers as if she’d simply stepped out for a few minutes, “Hey,” she croaked out softly, “It, uh, turns out I didn’t take my keys when I left. Mind letting me in?”

Harley sat on a thin old mattress, apparently the finest Arkham solitary confinement had to offer. She looked up at the person that had arrived at the bars of her cell and gave a toothy grin, going back to playing with a small doll that looked something like a disfigured barbie, "Ya like my doll? Ol' Winslow Schott gave it to me before he was transferred to Metropolis," she greeted flippantly, rolling onto her back and kicking her legs up so they were sprawled against the wall. Bruises poked out from where they jumpsuit had been cut short haphazardly.

Afternoon Gothamites! This we celebrate 's mom, . Martha's place in Bruce’s life goes beyond a string of broken pearls and a deadly gun shot. Martha Wayne has been an inspiration to her son beyond her tragic death he experienced at a young age with learning about her compassion for justice in her home town of Gotham City. When Bruce needed guidance the most, Martha was there, one of the most memorable modern tales coming in 's Part Two of "Whatever Happened to the ?" from (Vol 1) 853 from April 2009, illustrations by , , and . Acting as the "last Batman story" after the event of the 's apparent death in "" and "Batman R.I.P", hears stories of his adventures and death by several mythos related figures such as Joker, Superman and Robin, confused by the different interpretations of himself he has come across. But a voice, a figure emerges to him, the form of Martha Wayne. He tells his mother that all he knows from the various memories of Batman is that he will always continue, so in the end death is the conclusion. Martha tells him there is no Heaven or Hell, lasting reminding him "Do you know the only reward you get for being Batman? You get to be Batman." Bruce then bids a good night and farewell to the elements of the universe, his universe, and is reborn again in the arms of a young Martha, saying hello to her new son, Bruce.
