There was a time when these things scared the shit outta me (ok, ok...they still do). If you told me 4 years ago that I’d get beyond a 10-lb dumbbell in each hand, I’d have laughed you out of the room.

But here we are. A total of 42 of these bad boys today at 95 pounds. In between sets of 21: 100 pull-ups (still working on those) and 1600 meters of running.

My max thruster now sits at 135, and I’m sure I’ll push 150 by the end of the year. Hard work pays off, and these guns are just about ready for summer. Still miles to go in getting more efficient with my form, but getting there.

You must barbell back squat! 🔹while there is plenty of room in training programs for movement variability, no amount of rear foot elevated split squats or body saws are going to make your squat better. They are just going to make you really good at rear foot elevated split squats and body saws. Can they help you perform better overall? I guess it depends on the person, but they certainly aren’t going to hinder your performance. Either way, SPECIFICITY trumps all. LEG DAY!!!! Did some legs with my boy @kevin.moffitt today. Tried some heavy box squats with bands for the first time (8 sets of 2). I've been doing really light legs....and back for that matter since I've been dealing with a hernia for about 3 months but this felt good!  I don't recommend lifting with an injury like this by the way.  Here I hit 335lbs for 1 and failed on two.  Sat down,  felt core loosen and figured better not push it.  Good times! “Heavy ball/stone shouldering is a great self limiting lift that when done properly will train your spine to “stay ready” by getting your spine strong in various positions.

🚫Many times a person might focus too much on maintaining neutral spine at all times and this can be a very bad habit to develop. 🤓You want to be strong in all positions in your spine so when you load it and you accidentally round your back because of a high demand of load or position, your back will still be safe.

I recommend you start with a load that is not too heavy and focus on utilizing the same mechanics shown on our video to develop good lifting habits.

Finished off the day on the skillmill.  Since I'm too lazy to load up a prowler, I decided to try the highest resistance on the skillmill.  Not too heavy but good enough for 30 seconds of work.

Had to squat also but did heel elevated front squats. First rep went up unexpectedly quick and couldn’t reset my foot perfectly for the second rep but still the first rep felt easy

Started this training session by easily hitting squat singles at 315 then 340. Here’s me safely failing 355lb on the squat after losing my balance on the way up 🤓. Then I bounced back (with the unfailing encouragement of @austin_barbellmedicine ) to squat 290x5 then 2x5x280. Ended with some strict presses - what’s shown is 115x5. Rounded out with 2x5x110 😁

Power or nah? Today felt super tight in the hips and kept powering instead of squatting. Today we hit the 3 position snatch and worked up to 145 lbs. Not as snappy and i would like but i feel like my hips played a role in that. But today is the last training session before the meet. I’ll be spending Friday working on mobility/technique and Saturday will be a day of rest. Judgement day Sunday...let’s see what 3-4 months of grinding pays up 💪🏻🏋🏻

Today was a mental game. Everything felt heavy, I had to keep the thoughts of "that's too much" "I can't do that" "I'm too tired to finish"  out of my mind. And ya know what? I did it, despite feeling like a weakling 😂
