(Sorry for the multiple posts but you know IG doesn’t let you do multiple photos if they are different shapes. 😐) Anyway....
Today is Day 22 (earth day!): #anuvittasana the #standingbackbend ! Another one I had posted a couple months ago and see a bit of improvement! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 .
And then throwing all the way back to day 5– (i just realized I skipped that day, but hey, opportunity for backbend themed post): #lotus in #ustrasana variant. .
It doesn't look like much, but boy was that hard. balancing on the knee caps in lotus was hard enough and then throwing in the backbend was like 😰. Definitely not just as simple as lotus + camel. The balance/combo adds a whole other dimension.

This is an advanced pose! Test out your forearm wheel to see if you’re ready for this pose (from forearm wheel walk your hands towards your feet, walk feet up wall or onto blocks and breathe - if this is not comfortable, work on this posture before moving deeper)
WARM-UP: Cobra, extended puppy, anjaneyasana
PART I: START here
- Start in a wheel pose and then walk down to forearms (as close as possible to your feet)
- Walk your feet up onto blocks (or chair against a wall)
- Practice lifting your head! Don’t let your head drop.
- Eyes should be looking at the blocks (practice lifting your eyes towards your feet)
． PART II: FEET TO HEAD
- Wiggle your forearms forward (as close as you can to the blocks)
- Walk feet up blocks
- Look up and take feet to head (one at a time)
- When you feel more comfortable take both feet to head - keep gaze up
PART III: KICK UP
- Find 3 legged dolphin pose
- Kick your feet up to the wall
- Same steps as before
- Flexibility practice: Walk your feet up the wall and practice straightening legs without dropping your head (the higher you walk your legs up, the easier)
Take your time learning and don’t forget to breathe! It’s not so much about the aesthetics or final pose even, just aim to feel something new - that aha moment and all will come! ．

I got home tonight after the second long rough shift in a row and I just wanted to go to bed but I decided to practice instead. I’m happy I did. Recordings act as a teacher in my home practice, back-bending has always been one of my bigger challenges and for as long as I’ve known I’ve always hated this position. I’m going to add these poses into my daily practice to compare in the next few weeks. #yogaeverydamnday#backbend @elevationjunkie82
Guess what guys?! I just landed in Hawaii!......Again! This back bendy photo was taken in Maui last month, but right now I’m currently on the Big Island. I came here all alone and am going to a vegan retreat. It’s gonna be a fun week!

I have not had a #backbend practice for over a month due to injury, so tonight was tough.
I practiced the camel lotus leg bend at #paulthewall and tried it with a right leg first lotus and then left leg first lotus. My right sit bone is healing but I felt the pain in the buttock down to my thigh with the left leg first lotus bend at the wall when pushing the hips forward and the sternum upwards. Crazy me attempted this lotus leg backbend without the wall and found it was impossible to move the hands behind to shift the hips forward, so I gave up on being wonder woman tonight.
I warmed my standing backbend at the wall and then practiced it with feet together (my normal mode) and then feet hips distance apart for the #dropback . It took me a long time before I believed my wrists and arms could support my drop to the ground.

☀️☀️☀️ FINALLY FRIGGEN SPRING IS HERE. 😍 I live and feed off of sunshine and this weekend did not disappoint. My mood improves, my motivation to get things done sky-rockets, my happiness level goes up. So many endorphins. Such a life high😍 I got to run, yoga, ride my bike, finally figure out where Wells Fargo was (@carb79 😉😂) what a time to be alive. the Sunday scaries come to an all time high when I have to go sit in my dark hole of an office all day. Prison cells have more light. .... maybe I just need to pack up and move to an island. Who is with me?! @yogawithjessie ———————————————-
