9 years. It has taken me 9, yup, 9 years to be given #setubandhasana (not in the above videos) finally made it!! 9 years of discovery, of doubt, of joy, of learning to focus. Years of breakthroughs, chin plants, ungodly/godly wake up calls and bike rides and struggles with transportation. Showing up panting and sun kissed, showing up soaked in rain showing up frustrated, sad, some days glad others grateful always left drenched in sweat. Years of feeling discipline take hold. Years of incredible teachers and knowledge and finally one day D E V O T I O N. It has been so long, I started to believe I wouldn’t even advance because it just wasn’t meant for me. I know physically I will develop and develop all the abilities necessary. It’s in my body this practice, strong and flexible and still... why!?!!
I know, I have heard it before “ it does not matter how long it takes” guess what to me it has. As I’ve heard other students complain to their teachers about how they’ve been in primary for 1.5 years and can’t advance I rolled my mat and my eyes and one day it just didn’t matter. Everything I wanted was stripped from me and I still, I was showing up. As I begin intermediary the journey ahead has left me with so many questions about what’s already come. As a teacher the answer that vibrates is that I am meant to learn a lot longer , to steep to sit, even get to the to point of giving up so that I can understand the undercurrents of teaching this content in this way. Carefully and felt so that you and I through every challenge can relate. .

Absolutely loved leading Astanga primary series all levels class last night! It took me right back to India from the minute we rolled out our mats and I did the opening chant. I'm all about intuitive movement and slow flows but I do also enjoy the highly structured & dynamic sequence of Astanga. Astanga is a very structured, physically demanding practice synchronising breath and movement to produce an internal heat that purifies the body. The vinyasa flow classes that I teach feature alot of the astanga postures but are placed together in a more creative sequence each designed with a different intention or anatomical focus.

12 noon Tues & Thurs for a 45 minute lunchtime flow @geordieyoga or 5-6pm Thursday at Geordie Yoga in town for Flow & Restore.
