All parents should have the ability to have time for themselves and not have to feel guilty about doing so, especially parents of a child with ASD (Autism Spectrum disorders).
ASD according to the CDC is on the rise. 1 in every 54 children and NJ is 19% above the National average with 1- 34 children are diagnosed with ASD.
ASD is a spectrum (so it varies) many individuals fall under this spectrum and not know it because people refuse to educate themselves and not want to be labeled. I advocate for Autism because too many people say " I don't mind looking after a child so long it's not a problem child or Austic). If the average person knew the stress that is put on a parent and endurance one must possess to care for a child with ASD they would be astonished as to how someone can do this day in and day out. The answer is simple; it's because of love. But it is stressful and just like the average couple deserves a night away from the kids so does a couple with a child with ASD. As a mother of two myself, I could not imagine just anyone caring for my children and parents of ASD worry more because not many child care providers are trained and even some that are trained do not have the proper level of knowledge nor patience to handle such children which causes parents to stay home with their children and not go out or give yhe. Every parent deserves some alone time because when a parent has the ability to fully take care of themselves they are more equipped to take care of their children. Self care is important. That's why I believe in providing individual care for every child since every child is unique in their own way that they are left smiling and laughing.

💕 My niece, Azriel, is autistic. She has a fear of the ocean. But, my eldest daughter actually got her in the ocean the past couple of days. Not just her toes. She eventually went out deeper with her 💕 My sister was SO amazed! Lorelai has worked with many autistic kids. They just seem to trust her. Azriel ended up having a blast and LOVES the ocean. She kept asking to go back to the beach. 🌊😎 They left this morning and we miss them. 🌿 I’ll be back to work on Wednesday May 30th. Spending a couple quiet days with the kiddos. 🌿 Hubby won’t be home again until end of June when he takes off work for 2-3 weeks to be home for baby boy’s delivery. 🌿 I can finally not feel pain in either of my eyes. I had ulcers in both. It was fun. And I have glasses now, which I haven’t had in about 5 years or so. 🌿 It was 15 days straight of trial after trial and I totally broke down last week. There were good things happening as well and I’ve been focusing the last few days on those instead. #GetBehindMeSatan He tried. He tried repeatedly, consistently, aggressively. The Salty Tribe Community, local friends and neighbors have been such a deep blessing. I almost kept it all to myself and I think that could have been a mistake. Thank you all! Don’t forget about our MASSIVE giveaway over at @lamp.light.homeschool if you haven entered yet. It ends this week Friday.
