AshtangaMondays is different kind of challenge and a new playground for both new and experienced ashtangis where, every Monday in 2018 will share our love for the ashtanga practice, and explore and deepen our practices even further with hopefully many of you!

Day 1 #AshtangaOpensHearts // Urdhva mukha svanasana. ๐ Looking back over the past several months I have been intuitively been drawn to the color green, surrounding myself with green hues, shifting a portion of my journaling habits to finding things I'm grateful for daily (or whenever I get the time to), beginning to meditate on the words of "True Love" by Thich Nhat Hanh, and even seeing green in my aura photo. Sooo I guess you could say I've been obsessed with rediscovering my heart chakra... (To be continued next post)

The #AshtangaOpensHearts challenge got me on my mat today. I was waiting for energy, I was waiting for sun, but itโs been rainy and Iโve been sleepy all day. Today I added #shoulderstand#sarvangasana to my #ashtanga#primaryseries practice after about 4 months off any posture or gaze involved in tucking my chin. Can we just agree that injuries suck...like really a lot...however, they are humbling and CAN be one of the greatest teachers. Iโm grateful I stepped back and allowed my neck to recover. Iโm grateful for FINALLY feeling some significant healing, maybe almost completely?๐ค๐ป Iโm also grateful that this injury has made me more mindful of my movements. A hastily done posture when youโre fatigued is not worth the risk. Thank you @nalunosara for building a beautiful studio. In two days Iโve shared the mat solo practicing yesterday while boxing happened beside me. Today your I took you #ashtanga class. We do some funny stuff in ashtanga. Sometimes practice is great. Sometimes itโs just ok. Sometimes it feels terrible. Sometimes your tired and sore but you still slap a smile on your face (exhibit A).

Shiva applies ash on his body just to remind that this life is transient. The body and ego which gives one sense of individuality will not be around one day. Shiva stands for letting go everything in the world of forms. The path of Lord Shiva is undoubtedly the path of the ascetic yogi, indifferent to the world abstaining from all sorts of indulgence and pleasures. Shiva, the destroyer, whose destruction is positive, nourishing and constructive as it builds and transforms life and energy for the welfare of all. Shiva destroys our imperfections in order to ensure our spiritual progress. He destroys our illusions, desires and ignorance. He destroys our evil and negative nature. He destroys our old memories, so that we can move on with time. He destroys our relationships, attachments, impurities, physical and mental wrongdoings, the effects of bad karma, our passions and emotions and many things that stand between us and God as impediments to our progress and inner transformation. Holding the face to push the head back allows you to elongate and sit up much taller in eka pada sirasna. Notice the difference between the two pictures. Really good for when youโre starting with leg behind the head
No es que me crea un ser puro โlejos de elloโ y tampoco creo que los antiguos Yoguis se refirieran รบnicamente al cuerpo cuando hablaban de purificaciรณn. De nada vale un cuerpo purรญsimo con un corazรณn cerrado y una mente egoรญsta. Pero un organismo limpio por dentro es una mejor herramienta de servicio en el Despertar de la Conciencia. Ahora bien: las โimpurezasโ del cuerpo -toxinas cรกrnicas, quรญmicos artificiales, รกcidos grasos del queso, azรบcares refinadas, estimulantes, drogas, tabaco y alcohol- salen por vรญa de las mucosas. Cuanto mรกs โvenenoโ tienes en el cuerpo, mรกs mucosas generas, mรกs pesado te vuelves y con mayor dificultad logras conectar con tu mรบsica interior, respirar profundamente y sentir cรณmo tus cรฉlulas se energizan de prana.
Desde luego no soy radical. No me suscribo al veganismo puro. Se me parece demasiado a una religiรณn: te prohรญbe comer miel, usar ropa de lana y cualquier producto de origen animal. No me interesa hacer del alimento una religiรณn, sino una medicina.
Ser vegano -un vegano impuro- es mi forma de protesta ante este derroche de violencia y de inconsciencia. Es mi postura, una postura silenciosa, serena y casi secreta. Es una รฉtica personal y una manera de recordarme a mรญ mismo, tres veces al dรญa, que mientras me encuentre en este planeta, me encuentro para amar, perdonar y ayudar a mitigar el sufrimiento de otros seres, humanos o no.
Ahora sรฉ que los vegetales no sufren cuando los comemos, pues no tienen sistema nervioso y sรฉ que nos donan sus frutos a manos llenas. Sรฉ que el mรกs apto no es quien puede comerse al otro, sino aquรฉl que logra cooperar con ese otro de manera inteligente. Sรฉ que la vida no muere y por lo tanto no necesita defenderse o atacar para subsistir. Sรฉ que no soy un cuerpo, que รฉste es simplemente un vestido prestado mientras camino por esta tierra y mientras camino, me inspira profundamente saber que alimento sus cรฉlulas con la materia noble, sabรญa y luminosa del reino vegetal, y no con el dolor y el miedo de la muerte animal.
