Done. I just have to export it in a format best suited for a screening now. xo
.
I made this film to learn how to make feature films.
.
I made this film because I wanted to.
.
I made this film to prove I could- to myself and to everyone who said I couldn’t.
.
I made this film to impress a super hot woman who hates me.
.
I made this film because I couldn’t find any women who had directed a micro budget feature and we need mentors at this level.
.
I made this film in order to teach people.
.
And.
.
I made this film to do something I wanted to do when I was 8. That’s why this film is 88 minutes long. One for 8-yr-old Sarah and one for me. I still vividly recall sitting on my grandparents red velvet chaise (the springs had gone, it was very uncomfortable) telling myself I’m making a film when I grow up. xo

1864 we got some huge floods, February and then again in March. Flamin' river no sooner down than up again. Hard ter compare it to terday, we didn't have all your fancy hydrology ter let us know what was comin' downstream. Mind you, riverbank's come a long way since then too.... #Repost from @inkandbaren with @regram.app ... How many feet over the Town Wharves did the 1864 reach?

Aside from being the fictional location* for my film, Tamborine Mountain is a lovely picturesque area that I highly recommend tourists visit while they are here for the Commonwealth Games.

First, question- should I use this shot in my film? I forgot I had it.
.
This is Curtis Falls and it’s located on Tamborine Mountain. It’s inaccessible to the public as it’s home to platypus and glow worms, so no swims sorry. But you can stand in this spot for as long as you wish x
.
Second. I spent most of my day yesterday reviewing my audio mix, adding or removing elements and trying to subdue the cacophony of cicadas in the actors lav mics. There’s zero ADR for this films sound mix because that’s how I chose to record the audio. And I would have got away with it if it weren’t for those pesky cicadas! RX6 by iZotope has helped shape the sound around the cicadas, otherwise you can do an analysis of room tone and remove that eq band but RX6 sounds more natural.
.
All I’ve got left to do now is to automate the group busses for each element eg dialogue, music. And then I am finished.
.
So. Freaking. Close.
.
And in a weeks time, when it’s finished, I’ll be able to say I’ve made a feature film all by myself! Lone wolf, much?

THEY JUST KEEP KILLIN’ IT! 🌟ACPA music students were invited to sing along-side the wonderful @isaiahmusicofficial at the Songs of Hope and Healing Benefit Concert at @atqpac last night. The concert supported the Friends of HEAL Creative Therapy - FHEAL, an organisation that provides creative arts therapy to young refugees. We love being involved in concerts that bring together extremely talented people, but it’s even better when they also help the wider community - our community. Well done to our fantastic students and everyone involved in the production 👏🏿❤️🎵

Whilst the content of my film is pure nonsense and on the verge of trolling, I had some very serious goals to achieve when I started out.
.
1. Crew had to be at least 50% women. This is the crew card from the end credits. Nailed it. Love your work, ladies and Michael.
.
2. Complete a film with a skeleton crew. There were five of us on set and Natalie and Michael also took two of the acting roles and focused solely on that whilst on set. That left a crew of three doing the work. Nailed it.
.
3. I didn’t want any racist “jokes” cos that shit ain’t funny. Nailed it easily. Didn’t have to try not to be an asshole on that one.
.
4. I didn’t want the cliche shit from horror films where the boys lust over the girls. But given that’s the general storyline I was parodying, I flipped it and made it uncomfortable and unwanted attention towards the boys. Squirm-tastic. So much discomfort.
.
5. I wanted to make the characters really unlikable but they’ve ended up really human, which is testament to the skill of the actors and the six dialogue rewrites we came up with before locking down the script a fortnight before filming. Sorry not sorry
.
6. I just wanted to make something that would have made both my grandfather (he had a silly sense of humour too), and this woman I really liked, guffaw upon watching. I think Grumps would have loved the nonsense and sarcasm in the film. Not so sure about the crush, I don’t think she liked my jokes. x
.
7. I want to make films on the Gold Coast because we have lots of stories to tell. Last Campsite doesn’t nail that because it was written as a location that can be anywhere in case I have the opportunity to option off the script for a remake (someone else can remake, I’ll just sell the script).
.
Everyone thinks I’m a moron for making films but while I’m not that good at making films I’m far worse at office work so

If there was any doubt as to whether this film is one giant joke, this is proof that it’s a very serious and sensible movie. Not even one single joke in it. 😬
