Oven baked artichokes. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Delicious!!!!!!!! Clean your artichokes making sure to cut off the harder bits. Cut each artichoke in six pieces and toss them in salted boiling water for five minutes. Drain them and transfer them into a bowl with iced water. Then place them on a kitchen cloth and pat them dry. In a soup plate mix together two tbps breadcrumbs, two tbsp nutritional yeast, one tsp garlic powder and some fresh ground pepper. Roll each piece of artichoke in the mixture and place them on a baking tray. Spray some olive oil on top and bake at 200 degrees C for twenty minutes. Turn on the grill function during the last few minutes to give a nice color and crisp.
They are perfect as a side dish but I love to make lots of them and stuff myself with them!
So I bought an artichoke, now what? 🤨
Interestingly enough, turns out, legend has it, that Zeus came down to find an Earth woman, found a Greek one and poof! ⚡️ turned her into a ‘choke!
Also.. a good source of folate, dietary fiber, & vitamins C and K; packed with antioxidants— number 7 on the USDA's top 20 antioxidant-rich foods.
Soooo now what? How do you like your artichokes?
Artichokes may be braised, steamed, roasted, boiled, baked, marinated and hearts preserved in oil. For the optimum artichoke, select the heaviest artichokes that have a tight core and thick stems, which is a sign of a big heart. If you squeeze the artichoke and it squeaks, it is fresh. Artichoke avocado “tartare”
One of my all-time favorite combinations is avocado and artichoke so....I thought it would be fun to stack them 🤗
This is a simple artichoke salad: sliced fresh #artichoke tossed with lemon, Himalayan salt and extra virgin olive oil on a layer of #avocado mashed with a bit of tropea onion, Himalayan salt and chili pepper flakes.
I topped it with some fresh #parsley and an an edible #flower 🌼
I wish the lighting had been a bit better for the photo but oh well, still looks delish right?
Hoping everyone is having a fantastic #Thursday
It’s almost the #weekend !
Lots of #love
Oh and btw- I’m pretty much staying in all weekend with my little one so be expecting multiple chocolate cakes, cupcakes and brownies! #everything#chocolate 🍫
Maybe we will even do a video! ⭐️
Happy #yomhaatzmaut ! Packed a fruit and veggie (with cheese stars) lunch since today there will be lots of #israelifood and other goodies offered at school, plus #birthdaycake .
Half a steamed artichoke’s leaves and the whole heart, watermelon, blueberries, two carrot curl flowers, and lemon mayonnaise for dipping. Bits of sliced mozzarella for the #starofdavid shapes.
Wish the steamed artichoke wasn’t so gray looking, but got a little #blueandwhite in there, so I’m happy.
