Last night’s place setting! Curated these pieces from all over the place. Just love the different textures, colors, ceramic, wood, fabric, metal that make this setting work so beautifully ♥️♥️♥️ probably one of my faves from the dinners I’ve hosted 🍽🥂 #placesettings#AGhomeSF#vintagechina
Great finds of the day ! Antique ceramic oval plate, possibly manufactured in England in late 18th century. The plate bears the insignia of the British royal decoration “The Most Exalted Order of the Star of India”. This Royal decoration was the order of chivalry founded by Queen Victoria in 1861 to honor Indian princes, ruling chiefs, and high-ranking British officers & administrators who served in India with the motto of order as “Heaven’s Light Our Guide”. At the center of the plate is the “star” of the order as appears in the shape of sunburst. In the center, there is a ribbon ring of which a five-pointed star is enclosed. The edge of the plate is decorated with the “Collar” of the order in the form of chain with alternating blue lotuses, red & white roses, and a bouquet of palm leaves. The origin & history of how the plate with such motif come about is still unknown to me. Likely, it could be made as part of the entire dinner set intended to be used by the order’s recipient or used at the banquet gathering of the member of the order ???? If anyone has more clue or further info about it, please do let me know. It will be greatly appreciated ! | #ceramics#antiqueceramics#antiqueceramicplate#antiqueplate#britishraj#britishindia#britishcolonial#starofindia#royaldecoration#collar#star#chivalry#india#raj
