I had my eye on this dress from @twooldbeans for quite some time, and was blessed with this beauty at the last @twooldbeanssale 💟🌹 It fits me as if it were custom-made, and it had belt loops, so a piece of gorgeous hand-dyed teal silk ribbon was the order of the day, topped with a removable handmade millinery flower made from layers of various ivory-colored tulle, and featuring the beautiful hand-dyed silk matelasse fabric from @mary_jo_hiney which I embellished with vintage gold beads and labradorite.
I had a lovely commission to make this week - a little silk clutch bag for a bride. I combined some of the lace from her wedding dress with some very old English lace.
The brief was “I’d like you to make it look like the stars have tumbled down from heaven onto the silk.”
Once the bride to-be has received it, I’ll show you the finished bag...
It's been a while since I've posted a journal that I'm selling. Here's my #boudoir themed junk journal. The front is covered in beautiful vintage lace. Included in it are lots of boudoir themed loose ephemera that you can use in it - like these! It's really worth a look at! Find it in my Etsy shop! Link in bio!
Day 21 : FLOWERS.
This is my collection of antique linens, beautifully embroidered with flowers by members of our families who are long gone. They are our heirlooms, each piece being a piece of our history. My Great Grandma made beautiful lace, and the fact that she picked the threads out of some of these table cloths with her own fingers and carefully embroidered the flowers connects us still now over a hundred years on. There are delicate mats crocheted by my wonderful inspirational Grandma, who is going to be 95 this year! There are pieces which belonged to my mother in law, which, typically of her, were starched and folded as neatly as the day they were made when I found them in her linen draw. There is an energy around hand made things that belongs to the person who made it and these things are more precious to me than diamonds or pearls. And I use them; seeing them drying in the sunshine at the weekend connected all the women of our dynasty in such a wonderful way. Don’t ever save anything for best, things were made to be used and loved and enjoyed 💗 (also swipe left for the Insta reality of my linen draw 🙈😱)#myhousethismonth#howivintage#myperiodhomestyle#linen#antiquelinen#antiquelace#embroidery#herritage#heirloom#familyheirloom#myeclecticmix#mystyle#interior#interiorstyling#memories#craft#women#flowers#vintage#vintagestyle#vintagelinens#deliciousdarkdecor#dailydecordetail
