Last week @coachjimputnam started me on Aerobic Capacity work from the Opex Sustain programming. The goal is to work on Maximum Aerobic Power starting at the MAP10 level: 1 hour of sustainable work aiming for a pace that can be maintained for 4 hours. Over the course of a few months and about 3 sessions a week the objective is to start the process of increasing the ability to stay aerobic for longer periods of time.

People get scared of doing a 60-minute cardio based workout because they are going long and hard. MAP 10 is long and easy! To progress in this, you add volume, but you still keep the pace nice and easy.

It’s been surprisingly fun and relatively challenging because my mind is not wired for “slow and steady”. I am fighting the 1 hour AMRAP mentality the entire time and instead focused on consistency and pacing. Trying to stay purely aerobic and not ever be out of breath or fighting for air. At any time I am able to have a conversation while moving at this pace. It’s a slow and steady process starting at MAP10 and slowly building up to quicker intervals at a slightly faster pace. MAP1, in roughly 18 months, will get me down to 30sec Intervals repeatable over 2 minutes. I’m honestly looking forward to the journey and how it changes my mindset and abilities.

Side note- I am NOT a runner nor do I train more than 400m runs hardly ever. This 9k comes with zero long runs leading up to it besides a 10k in December that also came with no distance practice 😥😝

What a nasty day!  Isn’t it April?? Thankfully both sporting events were cancelled because as much as I love watching our kids play, I don’t like sitting outside in bad weather!

My day started like this.  It gave me some energy to deal with this nasty day!  Cardio Core ain’t no joke!! And let me tell you...That workout didn’t kick my ass, I kicked it’s ass!  I did this workout 5 wks ago and it was so much harder!  I’m in my final 2 days of my current program, and our last week consisted of previous workouts.  I cannot believe the progress I’ve made. 
Who’s ready to make some changes by June?? I guarantee, if you put in the work, you’ll see them!

After 6hrs of playing back to back to back matches to reach the finals, I ended up winning 4-6 7-5 10-3 in the championship. This was all after crushing legs the night before with @farwell25 and @liljohn1087  so my body was already shot and is even more shot today 🤕 Was good to get back out and play a tournament again as it’s been awhile as I was unseeded this tourney as well. This night is not even over and already I am so overwhelmed with my first every body building competition experience. I placed 3rd overall in the True Novice Bikini Class B! The emotions I’m feeling right now are so hard to describe. I started this journey as such an ignorant fool so unaware of the world I was diving into, but I’m ending this journey feeling like a winner even without this trophy. Shout out to @dark_transition_fitness for seriously helping me take my physique to something above and beyond I ever thought was possible for myself. Today I stepped on the stage as the very BEST version of myself. I could not have gotten this far without you sending me all those RIDICULOUS workouts, words of encouragement and reminders of staying focused on the goal. And to my diet specialist and posing Coach @shandrakee!! Girlfriend you seriously made magic happen with my diet, especially this last week for peak week!
