Starting one month from today, I will begin a new life and a year of adventures. Recently I was offered a year-long job to treat and travel with the world-renowned bird photographer, Arthur Morris, and I jumped at the chance. I leave on May 21 to move to Florida, and shortly thereafter, will begin traveling all over the world. Below is a map of locations where I’ll be going—Finland, Norway, Scotland and England to photograph puffins and various birds for 7 weeks starting at the end of May; Iceland and Greenland for landscapes, hiking, kayaking, and running a marathon for 1.5 weeks in August, Snow Hill Island in Antarctica to photograph the Emperor penguins for 2 weeks in October, the Falkland Islands to photograph other penguins and birds for 3 weeks in December and January; followed by some local trips to San Diego and various locations in Florida for birds next spring. I feel beyond lucky.
I’ll treat Artie for a couple hours per day to keep him as pain free as possible, and in return, I get to learn photography from the best and travel with him and his partner Anita. If any of you are interested in following along on my journey, I’ll be writing up a blog and I can email it to you if you send me your email address. In my free time, I also hope to write a self-help book on the type of physical therapy I practice, using breathing to help reduce pain and restore motion, all of which has helped Artie reduce his pain and regain motion he hasn’t had in 30 years. Over the next 4 weeks, I’ll be scrambling to pack up my house and get ready for this adventure. I’m excited and terrified at the same time as I leave behind the life I’ve built here and say a temporary good-bye to all my friends and family. I hope many of you will keep in touch. 😊 .
