De(human)ised Zoo (2018) is a drawing work done with whiteout and ink over a historical circus poster. Unknown to many Australians is the slavery industry that existed. In some regions and industries right up to 1970. Slavery mainly occurred on sugar plantations in the northern areas. Blackbirding resulted in Queensland, slavery existed in the pearling industry and on sheep and cattle stations. One of the most unbelievable and shocking histories is the story of Robert A.Cunningham who collected indigenous people in far North Queensland to add to the Barnum Bailey’s Circus along with Zulu’s from Africa, Toda from Southern India, Nubians from Southern Egypt and Sioux from the USA. It was reported all the “recruits” were willing, but we all know they were forced as slaves! The Australian indigenous were promoted falsely and dehumanised as “cannibals” and “savages”. Many died away from their country. In 1993 Tambo one of the performers was discovered mummified in Cleveland, Ohio. It is believed he was sold to a museum for display when he succumbed to tuberculosis/pneumonia. It is disgusting and almost unbelievable the terrible, undignified and inhumane way this man and his family were treated and conditions they were subjected too. It just makes you wonder how many other stories like this are out there. These injustices needed to be known and discussed if we are ever going to heal. #australiahasablackhistory#slaveryinaustralia#australia#lestweforget#perthartist#australianartist#art#drawing#history#truth#acknowledgement#humanzoo#australiyaniality#posterart

McMillan Woods Global Awards 2018
‘Most Promising Magician of The Year’
I am honored. It’s been a decade since I picked up my first trick. There were times when I didn’t even believe in making it a full-time job and was ‘exploring’ around like many did. I am very, very fortunate to have a lot of people supporting me throughout, directly or indirectly, mentally or emotionally, intentionally or coincidently. I couldn’t even start mentioning all of your names. Like most parents who care, my folks weren’t entirely happy with my choice of career. For the longest time have I been trying to prove something to them, until I realized that there really isn’t much to be proven. Okay maybe they gave up trying to convince me at some point, but I guess they are happy knowing that I love my work and am truly living. And today I hope I made them proud.
Then, there’s this person whom I have no idea what I have done to deserve her selfless love and unconditional support. To constantly remind me that I’m always enough, to tolerate me, at times to humanly allow me to retreat a little (together), and to push forward together, with @elyselui .
Last night was fun. Special thanks to @chermainepoo for guiding throughout, I’m glad to have had the opportunity to work with you and hopefully, more to come. :)
Congratulations to all of the McM Rising Stars, McM Masters, and McM Icons award recipients. My honor with be on the same stage with y’all. @amberchia @winniek_my @faiketluari •
Big thanks to @knkeyng for designing such outstanding suit for this prestigious night.
Lastly, I think, I’m finally a cool kid. (Cue music 🎵)
I start a new contract on Monday.
My last first day on a job lasted about two hours. I tapped out due to nausea and vomiting.
At the time, Sam's lovingly prepared breakfast was the scapegoat. Although deep down, I knew it wasn't food poisoning.
Later in the year, Dad shared insights for my book. He, too, had bouts of nausea, vomiting and other unpleasant symptoms at the hands of anxiety and panic attacks.
In all the conversations I had with others about anxiety, it was apparent that these physical symptoms are more universal than they are unique.
One theme I noticed was how people learned to adapt to change, despite their mental illness... Something that seems to come down to two things: acknowledging and articulating experiences.
When we have an awareness of our own minds and bodies, and we accept and allow our emotions, rather than avoiding them, we also become better at communicating our experiences to others.
With time and conversation, we learn how to respond to our anxiety; rather than reacting. Our needs become easier to identify and we can approach situations with the knowledge that it is possible to move through these overpowering thoughts.
I'll admit, I'm nervous. I don't know what Monday will bring... I don't know if I'll feel unwell, if I'll make it to lunchtime. Or if I'll have an awesome first day.
But what I do know is this: building on previous acknowledged experiences serve as a guide. Knowing what I know now about my own mind, means I'm better prepared to handle the symptoms if they arise. ⠀⠀⠀⠀
When we acknowledge and articulate how we're feeling, we are able to move away from a state of fear. And into one of love and acceptance. Even in a stressful/triggering situation.
And that's when we're in control. 🌱✨
A somewhat sad day is soon upon us. This Saturday the old Motorious shop is closing and being demolished. This place and its crew has been a centerpiece and a major contributor in the vintage motorcycle community. It was also in the backroom of the shop, about half a decade ago, that four dudes conspired to create what is today Dead Cat Motorcycles. Thankfully Motorious itself lives on, but this place doesn’t, and it deserves a final salute. So here’s to all the good times and all the best to the boys at Motorious on their next chapter and new location in Copenhagen. @motoriouscph
I think we ALL #forget to #self -love & we get #caught up in day to day #struggles . Speaking from #experience , I don’t think I’ve ever #truly#loved#myself . I #work#hard at it every day, but I’m not #perfect . I have a sh*t ton of #flaws . Flaws that are bare to the naked eye, & flaws so #hidden#deep within no one would ever see. I can say that each day I #fight a #battle within #myself to find just ONE thing I #love . ONE thing that can tilt my lips to forum a #smile . ONE thing that makes my #heart skip a beat. ONE #acknowledgement that I’ve done #great today. ONE pat on the back for all the hard #work I do in a day. Just ONE moment that I’ve #cherished & will forever give me that feeling of love. Self-love can be in all forums. Taking a walk, having a spa day, getting your hair done, shopping, spending time with an old #friend or #family member, sitting in silence, getting back into an old hobby, reading a book..taking time to reflect on all the GREAT qualities about yourself. LOVING yourself for waking up today & kicking a$$ !! Acknowledge you are loved, acknowledge you are the only one that can be YOU. LOVE yourself. When you can do all of that, loving another person for themselves becomes easy 💜

Yes! Yes you are!
Note to self: I’m lovely.
This is a FAR more helpful, motivating, activating, empowering thing to say to ourselves than any of the criticising that we think we need.... or someone else at some point thought we needed to hear. Thanks but no thanks.
Mind shift time. Anytime you catch a thought that is criticising say: “thank you for sharing and I know I’m lovely” to that thought.
You are not your thoughts but it doesn’t mean they don’t affect you, your actions or how you feel about yourself. Thanking them for sharing acknowledges their existence but doesn’t lend truth to their lies.
Let’s do a mind shift and take control! Let’s crowd out the criticism with nurturing, helpful statements.
You can do it! You’re lovely, you are.
Thank you @frizzkidart for sharing this with the world x x
Does not mean you agree
It means you acknowledge their viewpoint

It’s easy to speed through life; to always be moving the goal posts of ‘success’ in service of growing, scaling and expanding. So here’s a challenge: consider what you’ve created. Acknowledge what you’ve done that’s gotten you here - to today. And celebrate the whole journey - because THIS moment matters, and where you are is exactly where you’re meant to be right now.
