Marliese von Burchard, 57 "After two hip replacement operations in 2016, with the help of the most modern medical technology, my body got a new chance to move without pain. Then my bow legged soul had to rid my head of all the well-meaning advice given by professionals who foresaw my future as an eternal patient. Everyone has an opinion.
We were advised to stick to moderate movement otherwise the new hip would spring out of place. I first went to tennis training in 2012 as my children loved the game. Tennis and I got on splendidly.
In 2017, I set up an hour with my tennis trainer. He was excited, I was scared. Small steps. Careful swings. Good legs and a trainer who slowly buildt up my game. I now play several times a week, go to the gym and do aquaaerobics. I treasure my body." Speakers and their stories are the most important factor in a TEDx conference. In anticipation of our 6th TEDx Münster conference, we will bring you the many more little stories of lives in and around Münster that are just as interesting and match this year’s conference theme “Discover the Unknown”. Have you tried out something new in your life or had a unique insight and want to share your experience via our Social Media channels? Then let us know!
Turning focus inward 🙈🙏🏼💫 I just saw a #tedtalk where this very clever woman talked about how #emotions do not happen to us but is created by our brain 🧠- after 25 years of studying the brain, the body and psyche they came to the conclusion that the brain see information and then try to figure out how that relates to you and then it imagine what kind of outcome it will bring in relation to you. So it is all about our #creative and beautiful #mind who make up what it think could happen and then creates the emotions how cool is that? I got really happy to know that actually because in yoga #philosophy we work with how to master the mind and now we know that the mind is connected and controls the feelings. So for me I thought then It does matter how we think of our self, how we speak to ourself about ourself inside and how we look at the world from the inside. Because the world does not happen to us we have the power to write our life’s. Some might think “what are you saying Natacha we can not decide if a plain crash ore something horrible happens to us and that makes me feel very uncomfortable!” I know that is exactly what I am saying! We can not control that but we can work with the mind to not focus on creating those scenario inside our head and creating emotions that relates to those scenarios. because if it happens it will happen ! And would it not be more nice to be happy in a state of calm and bliss if something horrible happens? - instead of running around anxious and stressed out? And would it not be nice to know your are amazing, good enough and you have potential to live out your dreams instead of worrying what could go wrong? I know it is not just something you just do that is why it is called a yoga practice and it is a life long practice! But isn’t it worth it?
I always wanted to believe that it was like that and then people celled me naive! And still sometimes do but at least now I have some science backing it up! And I will still fight to create my life from the inside and hopefully inspire people to do as well! 🙏🏼 Namaste ✌🏼 #yogi#yogaobsessed#yogini#yoga#yogiinthemaking#yogiinspiration#yogis#yogalife#yogapose#yogaasana#ted#tedtalks
Imagine if you had a device that could feed you popcorn, as shown here. Or an alarm that hit you in the face to wake you up. Or a helmet that brushed your teeth for you. .

Wonderful reminder from @theyesmummum 💕 For those days when, as a mother, you’re doubting everything you do, comparing yourself to others, and questioning your intuition and abilities at every turn: YOU’VE GOT THIS and you’re doing GREAT. Only you know what your child needs and your instinct makes you an expert. Follow it and trust in your incredible self. Today you were the best mother you could be, and tomorrow you will be too.
Yesterday I attended the event "TedxMontebelluna" with various speeches related to different disciplines, some close and some far from my work reality, but I listened especially to wonderful ideas.
What this day gave to me aren’t the notes, the slides or the welcome bag, but the imput to reflect, to think, to always ask questions on various topics and to never stop at the basic daily level of my way of thinking. #tedxmontebelluna#ideeinorbita#infinitearea#neverstoplearning#tedtalks#ideasworthspreading#ted#motivational#momentsofmine#freedomthinkers#brainpower
Here’s a glimpse of what you can expect from our #stage this year! Designed by Alastair Pullan, a performer and technician at #TheHouseofDancingWater at @cityofdreamsmacau, the #design concept aims to show the whole process that goes into making one idea come to life.
We start at the desk on the left, where all the #ideas are written down or drawn out. The ideas then start to flow up the ropes, still in a mess of #creation . Nothing looks like it is coming together. But as you move further along the process, everything starts to appear more organised. By the time the ropes have made it to the other side, they have all come together to form one large, thick, steady rope holding together #TEDxWanChai sign. This represents the ideas all coming together to create one final product.
The most beautiful part of it all? If you take a closer look at the desk, you will notice that all the paperwork lying on the desk is actually from the entire process of creating this event. Everything you will see has been a part of the #creativeprocess .
Intrigued? Come see it in person at on June 2! Limited tickets still available (link in bio).
👨🏼💻 TED talks.
🔸Stuff your mom never told you - англоязычный канал девушки, которая просто и с юмором разбирает вопросы насущные.
👩🏼💻 Coursera, Ed-era, Prometheus. 👨🏼💻 Discovery Channel.
Hi guys, yesterday I was at @tedxroma , such an amazing experience. The main theme was "Esperanto, empower through neutrality". I really hope to participate again to Tedx
It’s a TED talks kind of night. I just watched this wonderful TED talk by Meghan Ramsey called, “why Thinking You’re ugly is Bad for You,” and just thought I’d post this pic because I’m still working on being proud of who I am and not focusing all on looks, and thinking I am beautiful. This is me after a day of house cleaning and babysitting and a week of being a hard working college student👍be confident in your own skin because your body helps you accomplish great things!! 😘
When the future seems bleak, think about this. Your moment in the spotlight of the Earth's history is but a "blip" on the timeline. If you're only focused on the negative aspects of history then you will only focus on the negative aspects of the present. If you can stop and see the improvements we've made along the way then the work of paving the future won't seem so detrimentally hopeless. We can't fix everything, but we can fix some things. Have pride in yourself for that. Let it be a reason to be happy.
Besides, the next generation is going to come along and scold your efforts, refer to you in a negative light to their children and take a huge crap on your methods and ideals anyhow. Diminishing your labors of progress to nothing more than a foot note on their self proclaimed greatness. All because they weren't here. All because they can't remember something they didn't experience first hand. Hind sight is 20/20. It's easy to say what you would have done had you been in the shoes of the past. It's easy to know once the dust settles and history has been investigated and picked apart. But when you're in the trench of the moment, not much is clear and even less is certain. So we do the best we can with what we know, or what we think we know, and try not to kill each other along the way.
Life. While more beautiful than words can describe, is also messy and painful at times. “Life’s beauty is inseparable from its fragility” ~ Susan David, PhD (@susandavid_phd)
We live our lives on a knife’s edge; our delicate internal biome and mental climates hanging in the balance, being but one moment away from a life-altering revelation or tragedy.
The World Health Organization (WHO) states that depression is the single leading cause of disability globally, exceeding both cancer and heart disease. Yet, no one wants to talk about it.
Well, I’m here to say, let’s stop suffering in silence. There are different degrees of depression, from feeling glum to soul-crushing sadness & it’s important to recognize that whether it lasts an hour or a decade, depression is serious.
In general, our society feels uncomfortable talking about strong emotions such as these because we simply aren’t taught how.
We learn about polynomials, but we aren’t taught how to sit with emotion, be it others’ or our own.
We learn about historical literature but not about long term financial planning.
While our ineptness at these, and other, important skills is not our FAULT, it is our RESPONSIBILITY to learn.
I invite you to join me; let’s learn and grow together.
