I didn’t think I could do it with the baby but our fierce director @laurenmspencer assured me it would be okay, even if I might have to roll four kids deep to weekend rehearsal. Even if I might have to do it all while breastfeeding. “Afterall,” she said, “This is a play about Motherhood.” In later conversations she articulated her commitment to making space for actor-parents, noting how often she and her colleagues have seen actors disappear after having children. I almost gave up but here I am. With a lot of help from a patchwork village. #artistmama#artistresidencyinmotherhood#ergobaby#babywearing#breastfeeding#normalize#theatre#untoldvoices#makingtheatre#rehearsal
Last night was the first rehearsal for The Tempest and I am beyond thrilled to be a part of this production. Being in the room with these artists who love Shakespeare’s language and just want to tell a good story that comes from the text, makes me so excited. My Shakespeare family just got bigger. Huge thanks to @jessicaerinmartin for connecting me to @shenanigans3000—so looking forward to this process. [Swipe to see who I get to play. ☺️] I get to spend even more of my time with Shakespeare: dreams come true!
