One year ago today, I was in a car accident while I was in Birmingham. I was physically unable to do the things I loved the most, especislly dance. Plus it halted my hopes and goals. I was in the state of depression during the first weeks after the accident. Well sometimes the greatest breakdowns can lead to the greatest breakthroughs.
I've learned that I am able to develop new skills and explore new ventures (from starring in Dynasty to Lifestyle Photography, #RaCoPhotography ). I've learned that there are people that really care for you and want to see you win.
I've learned that just because you haven't reached your goals/dreams now, doesn't mean it will never happen.
I've learned that you can tackle those monsters (whether it's physically, emotionally, spiritually, and financially) with peace and faith.
I've learned to not focus on my weaknesses/flaws, but my strengths/uniqueness.
I've learned to appreciate every moment and every person that I've met or that are part of my life.
I've learned that learning from mistakes/accidents can help shape you in becoming a better and stronger person.
After a miraculous recovery, I was able to dance again, teach/choreograph, start my company #RAmovementDP , plus so many amazing miracles.. When I was in Birmingham this past weekend, I had a moment of grief and fear of reliving that memory. When I took a deep breath and said these four words, "I AM AN OVERCOMER"...that fear, that pain, that anger...Vanished.
I have changed/improved so much since that accident, and I'm still learning/growning. I'm very grateful to be alive and can't wait for what miracles are in store for me 💚💙💚💙 #ThrowbackTuesday#TravelTuesday#ThoughtfulTuesday#lifestyle#Travel#photography#birmingham#alabama#sweethomealabama#thisisalabama#RandomRapha#stilllife#road#freeway#lifeisahighway
Finishing the first week of 2018, and I've realized this. As we go into the new year or start a new venture/goal, we get excited about it. Halfway through we start to get a little bit anxious or stressed out. We tend to worry that we'll not reach our goal or it won't happen. Kind of feels like we're stuck in last year. I've learned that it takes time/patience to reach our goal/destination, when we work well and keep the faith. Yes we've all heard the phrase "Slow and steady always wins the race" but we take it for granted. If we rush the process the results won't last, even lose the motivation or give up too soon. The slower it takes, the lasting the results (even unexpected opportunities or miracles might show up). This is the beginning. Keep on working, keep on believing, and keep on smiling.
So my first movie of 2017 was "La La Land", and what did I see for my last movie of the year? Another movie musical, "The Greatest Showman"!!! I have no words to describe how amazing this movie! Loved the music and choreography (spotted @nichols14 and @mishayyyy; they were awesome 😘). I also loved the powerful message about love, acceptance, and passion. It reminded me why I chosen the creative and performing arts as my career and passion. Dance/music has impacted my life, and using my talents can impact others. I know this probably might sound cliché, but it is true. True love can change lives and help make the impossible the possible. “The noblest art is that of making others happy.” -- P. T. Barnum
With that being said...Please please please go see "The Greatest Showman" 👏🙌🎩💚💙💚💙 #GreatestShowman#moviereview#BestMovieEver#RandomRapha#RaCoPhotography#nofilter#movieposter#supportthedancecommunity#supportthecircus#movie#musical#love#passion#supportthedreamers#shareamc
