- First Hat-trick
Well done to all students who took part.
Congratulations to this week's 'Redback of the Week', Olivia Eley, or Lit Liv as her friends like to call her.
Olivia is currently studying a Bachelor of Professional Accountancy at RMIT University, and is part of both our RMIT Redbacks Cheer & Dance Club & RMIT Netball Club.
Olivia outlines that "through joining a club I have made life long friends that I would never have met otherwise. We have become extremely close and I couldn't imagine life without them! I also had the opportunity to join the RMIT Cheerleading Club committee as a treasurer which enables me to put my learning into practice and also taught me many skills that I can now add to my resume." Well done Olivia, and all the best with the remainder of your studies!
Congratulations to our RMIT Varsity Netballers who took down ACU last night 🏐🏆💪🏽 + another congratulations to our RMIT Netbaes who followed it up with another win - by 1 point - against ACU later that night at CitySide Richmond 👏🏽 #RMITNetball#RMITSport#RMITStudentLife#GetActive
Well done to the @rmituniversity #Redbacks who won back the Varsity Cup tonight against @acusport on our home surface. It was a great battle through games of futsal, netball, dodgeball and basketball. Thank you to all of the students who participated - over 100 in total! #GetActive#RMITSport#RMITStudentLife
Congrats to Jimmy Whelan for being named last week's 'Redback of the Week'! Jimmy, or Wheels as his close friends call him, is an Australian cyclist who has had great success in recent years. He interestingly started as a middle distance runner through school and only transitioned to cycling just 18 months ago, following a few unfortunate injuries.
When asked, Jimmy stated that "RMIT Sport enables myself to engage with my University through my passion of cycling. It keeps me actively involved with the University beyond being simply a student." #GetActive#RMITSport#RMITStudentLife
She’s done it! @millytapper wins 🥇 for #TeamAus in the @gc2018!
Milly defeated Nigeria’s Faith Obazuaye 3-1 (7-11, 11-2, 11-6, 11-3) to capture her first Commonwealth Games title.
From all of us at @rmituniversity & @rmitsport, congratulations on this magnificent achievement!

Last Thursday, the @essendonfc Women's team had their first training session for the year at @rmituniversity’s brand new AFL Oval at RMIT Sports Centre.
Throughout the night, the Club used our Elite facilities, including multiple lecture theatres for coaching meetings and team briefings, the hockey field for stretching and assessments, and the AFL Oval for a full training session.
Moving forward, as part of our new partnership with EFC, the Women's team will train on the Oval every Thursday evening. If you are keen on watching some talented athletes train, please head along!

Introducing our first 'Redback of the Week'. Our Redback of the Week will be chosen each week and will be shared on both our Facebook & Instagram pages. This acknowledgement is awarded to dedicated RMIT students who participate on a regular basis across our many sports programs - incl. Representative/Nationals, Elites, Clubs, Social Sport and other Events.
This week our Redback of the Week is Jack Onley, a first year student who regularly participates in Social Sport. See our Facebook for more!
We wish @rmituniversity Elite Athlete @millytapper good luck ahead of competing in the Table Tennis at the @gc2018 over the next two weeks. She had a great start yesterday winning her first round!
Last Thursday our group of 22 Redbacks Team Managers took part in a fun Leaders Day. The group participated in four challenging escape rooms - an experience which we put forward to test their problem-solving skills and ability to work together to achieve their ultimate goal.
These days the wider culture of a team off-field is just as important as the performance on-field, therefore, we are working hard to build up the Redback culture in the lead up to Nationals. The Redbacks leadership group are working hard to prepare their teams to ensure they bring their A-game to the @unisportau #Nationals this year! We couldn't get the job done without all their support!
Best of luck to @rmituniversity Elite Athlete @christinenunn_squash who will be competing in Squash at the @gc2018 beginning today. Christine is heading into the Games as 16th seed.

Really missing everyone back home tonight 💕 I am kicking all of the goals I set out to achieve in Melbourne, receiving great feedback for my coursework, already 1/3 through RMIT’s Future Edge program, connected with some really important people through RMIT’s industry networking program, and yesterday I accepted a position at the University of Melbourne Biomedical Library 📚 Now after 5 really big weeks I’m lying here with tonsillitis again but I’m not dead yet! I’m always thinking of everyone back home, thank you to the people who continue to offer me words of encouragement, and thank god for meme tagging! #postgradlife#rmitstudentlife#informationmanagement#futurelibrarian#melbournestudent
