Supporting artists is one of the core values of Glass House Dance, to develop, flourish, refine our skills and learn new ones in order to make the best work we can. Paul last worked with us to make ‘Us’ back in 2016 combining street theatre with contemporary dance. This time it was all about object theatre and object manipulation. He’s one talented man! You can catch him working with @simonfloydperformance next month!

This plate is very similar to the breakfasts I’ve been having in Paris. Lots of veggies, eggs, and after adding in a baguette, I am all set!  To be honest, eating “whatever I want” on vacation has left me feeling kind of bloated and irregular. It’s simple meals like this that keep me balanced during vacation. Does anyone else feel this way?

While their are many natural alternatives such as herbs, supplements, essential oils, foods, acupuncture, chiropractic, etc that are amazing in each their own unique ways (maybe even more powerful when combined), if we approach our health from a place of fear and feeling broken, it is going to be challenging to ever really experience true vibrant total health and wellbeing.

Why is this you ask? Well not only does the thought of “I’m broken” lower your body’s natural frequency and energetic state to one that reflects back a world that proves it true, that is an extremely stressful thought for your body.

When the body is in a stress state (i.e. sympathetic nervous system dominance) it is impossible to heal and recover, because they body does ALL of its regeneration and repair in the “rest and digest” state which is where the parasympathetic side of the nervous system in dominant.

The truth is our body is doing the BEST it can in each and every moment. Your body is not broken, you are not broken. It is simply the circumstances and energetic state you are in right now that may prove to be challenging, but maybe it is just simply our bodies trying to get our attention. Most likely it is our bodies asking us to SLOW DOWN, show ourselves some love and compassion and to even shift our mindset around our beliefs and what we are experiencing. .
Whatever you are going through right now, this is not here to destroy you, but rather to grow you. A powerful journey of self-discovery emerges from accepting and embracing true health.

My biggest shifts have come from getting my body into the parasympathetic state of “rest and digest” as much as possible, shifting my thoughts and releasing old, limiting beliefs (which is why I am so passionate about energy healing, it’s subtle but POWERFUL work that gets you immediately in the parasympathetic state and helps you release what is no longer serving you)

I have to admit. I fucking love mayonnaise. 🥚❤️And I love salads.And I love chicken.There is nowhere in the bible that says thou shalt not eat mayo. 📖 Or chicken. It’s not a thing. I’ve been all over the place with my diet this year. I’ve tried pretty much every fad on the planet in my short 27 years on this Earth. And what I realize, time and time again (because who ever learns their lesson the first 32 times they make the SAME mistake) is that I need to listen to my body and what feels best for me. I have read hundreds of books and research papers and success stories and articles and watched countless documentaries and videos on weight loss and nutrition and holistic wellbeing. Any time I try to adopt someone else’s philosophy, to do what I think I *should* do, I end up out of balance. There is no one-size-fits-all diet. There is no right or no wrong. And each individual has their own priorities and their diet means something different to them. It could be Health. Weight. Taste. Adventure. Creativity. Do not judge someone else based on their values, and keep focusing on what you truly value and what truly gives you the best life possible, because that is what really matters at the end of the day. 💭

Would you pick an item to eat first or just mix it all together?

Personally I ate the raspberries, then the roasted sweet potatoes and after that well.... it was no holding back 🤦🏼‍♀️😋 The cauliflower rice was seasoned with dulse flakes and did they ever flavour it up!

The sautéed swiss chard was done in extra virgin olive oil.

I love all the brain food on this plate!  What a way to start the day.... I believe strongly that veggies and healthy fats for breakfast start the day off right and help to keep things on track for the day. How about you?

Side note on the dulse flakes; I have read that dulse has a high concentration of EPA and DHA, which are omega-3 fatty acids. (Think fish 🐠) we want that in our diet. They also are high in minerals such as copper, zinc, potassium, calcium, and magnesium.  And we want that as well! Just make sure they are from a clean source so they are not full of pollutants as with everything else!

Yesterday I worked an event that I also worked a year ago, providing an opportunity to see exactly how far I've come on this healing journey. Last year I was losing my hair, had insomnia, terrible mood swings, I was cold all the time, my face was puffy, my vision blurred, I had just had surgery to remove cysts from my ovaries...I felt like I had aged 100 years overnight, I was scared and confused, and had no idea what was happening in my body. I went from doctor to doctor and got no real answers. I am so grateful my instincts lead me away from all the medical labels and I found my answers through @medicalmedium

I know some of you are resistant to thinking food can heal you, I too felt like I needed to take medication to heal. I learned over time that my health was deteriorating on the standard AIP diet and bio-identical hormone replacement medication.

I would have loved to speak to someone who had been through the same thing as me and actually healed. can sunday smoothie bowls be a thing?? ya girl needed something ~clean~ for breakfast after a night of pizza, brownies, & abusing my liver 😅. this is the LAST week before graduation & I'm trying to be as present as possible each day, even though that means letting my eating habits slide a bit (jk a lot). we can't let restricting and calorie counting get in the way of living our lives. life is SO much more than striving to eat less than 1200 calories a day (and trust me, I'm so guilty of thinking this.) recently, I've stopped logging all of my meals in my fitness pal. it sounds absurd that I've been using it as a crutch for a year and a half and that I've spent SO much time making sure to log every single morsel of food. I'm embarrassed that I felt proud of how little I was able to eat everyday. I'm also embarrassed of all of the late night binges I succumbed to on popcorn & cereal & dark chocolate PB cups because I was constantly restricting myself. guys, we are all SO much more than that. we are strong & beautiful & smart & kind & confident, and none of that is determined by the number of calories we consume or making sure we hit our macros. tbh I feel like there's such a fine line to walk in the health food community. of course you want to encourage healthy eating, but I worry that sometimes it can unintentionally encourage disordered or obsessive eating habits. if there's one thing I can't stress enough, it's the importance of BALANCE. you are not *unhealthy* bc you ate a donut or had a slice of pizza after a night of drinking. maybe more importantly, your eating habits do NOT (and should not) have to define you, bc we're all so much more well-rounded than that. you are YOU, and that's enough. okay, rant over, happy sunday 😂
