Well, here we are... exactly one year since I walked through the doors at @lakecharlespowerlifting for the first time. Looking at this side-by-side, I’m definitely not satisfied with where i am right now (surprise 🙄) BUT I’m beyond happy about the progress you can’t see. So much has changed in the last year; I’m not a “new” me, just a BETTER me... and I’m still not done. I can’t thank @jdk_2 enough for introducing me to powerlifting, and @chirolifter and @squatastic_sara for their coaching, support, and friendship. And just so we’re all clear... Learning to love and reward yourself is a gift! As moms we give so much of our time and energy to our children that it is easy to forget to take care of ourselves. We forget that we need and DESERVE alone time because when we take care of ourselves we are more patient, loving, nurturing and energetic. Everyday I reward myself with exercise but today I did a little more...I got my nails done and now I'm ending my day with a relaxing bath

I mean, who's with me? I'm a mom of 3, including nine month old twin daughters. We just spent the day with my sister, and my girls screamed the entire 45 minute drive home. Screamed. As I finally crawled into the back seat to soothe them... I wanted to cry myself. Throw in the towel. Because I am just exhausted. I am reminded though that they were given to me, for only a short while. That motherhood is the most amazing thing on earth, and I will embrace it with everything in me. Messy ponytail, bags under my eyes and all! Love to all of you momma's who are rocking motherhood, even if you don't always feel like it.

Today, I literally worked out with all 3 of my kiddos running around me and my hubby playing guitar tunes 6ft away. NOT ideal, but if I only wait until the perfect time to exercise- I won’t be exercising. At all. And I’m starting all over again with running because I stopped and it’s so stinkin’ hard to start again 🙈
I get it. We want quick fixes. We want change without having to change. We want results without putting in the hard work. We want to get something without an investment. Free, quick, and easy 🙋♀️
Here’s the truth: anything worth having is going to be hard work. It’s going to be hard to get it and it’s going to require some work to keep it. It’s true of our relationships and it’s true of our health.
Friend- do not make excuses to not take care of yourself. As someone who has worked in healthcare since I was 15, you will either invest in your health now, or pay later. I’m not talking about fad diets, extreme exercising, or never tasting a Krispy Kreme again! #donutsforlife
Find what works for you. Buy those cute workout clothes if it helps get you to the gym, the fun water bottle if it helps you drink more water, and that fitness tracker if it’s helps keep you accountable.
Start somewhere. And when you fail, start over again 🌿
