Hello, my name is Ivy Rose Melanson. I suffer from ( chronic regional pain syndrome/rsd). I was diagnosed with it four years ago after having three surgeries from a rare disease ( avascular necrosis ). It hasn't been an easy road, hospital visits, Needles, spinal blocks, And many tears that come with my severe depression and anxiety disorder. I try not to let it stop me from succeeding with my dream and so far it hasn't. I plan to become an EMT next year. I was in emergency Services This whole year and my motive is to help someone else in pain. I know what it feels like to be alone suffering and people just look not knowing what to do. My escape through the worst times is poetry, and music. If you go to my page you'll see there is almost nothing but poetry. I want to inspire and help as much as possible and look at the brighter picture even though most the time life seems pretty dark. Wherever you are... Whoever you are, You are not alone ❤️. #rsd#chronic#pain#support#help#alone#strong#fight#story#believing#God#blessed#pray#you#together#warriors#chronicpain#chronicillness#hospital#doctor#doctors#fighting#achieve#goals#happy#bright#Awareness#love#emt#dream
Today was weigh in day and I finally admitted that I’d been bingeing/purging all of my meals & drinks and after an examination on my throat they could see little cuts where my nails had been hitting my throat. Mental illness isn’t something we choose but the urge to purge after every meal is my choice to an extent but my mental health has a grip on me that I’m no longer in control of. My life is tough, but someone out there has it worse so I need to learn to count my blessings, remember that my suicide attempts failed for a reason and that better things are coming. 🌻
👩🏼⚕️🧠😷 VIH-SIDA.
A quote from one of my most recent reads, “When we cannot cure or save a life, our patients can at least feel cared for. It should be a basic human right.” (From Cutting for Stone, by Abraham Verghese)
Ask anyone applying to medical school, and they’ll probably say they think medicine is the path for them because they like science. Or ask anyone else in society what it takes to be a doctor, and they’ll probably say they must be smart and get good grades...while yes, these things usually hold true for today’s physicians, but what makes a truly remarkable doctor is compassion and interpersonal connection.
Patients are people, and they are vulnerable. We now have amazing technological advances and procedures to help us diagnose and treat disease, but these same methods can also reduce our patients to their medical conditions. We now can get most of our medical answers without really getting to know our patients.
We must remember no one goes to the hospital because they want to be there, and do our best to keep the human touch in medicine, and empathize with our patients’ perspective. Yes, we go into medicine because we like science, but we must more fundamentally go into the profession because of human compassion.
Hand washing is the single most effective way to prevent the spread of infections.
Columbia Asia Extended Care Hospital has recently visited the children at Tadika Nemo Bestari SS14 Subang Jaya in educating children from ages 3 onwards on proper hand washing techniques.
An informative session in teaching the children when and how to wash their hands. The team also organised games and brought snacks along with a practical hand washing class.
