So got my world rocked again and some standouts to me were the Henri Giraud Espirit Nature Champagne throughout the entire meal, Domaine Frederic Esmonin Estournelles Saint-Jacques because it was flat out beautiful, and the Blandy’s Verdelho with my praline dessert! Thank you for another amazing evening!
Fût de Chêne 2012 base and Fût de Chêne MV Rosé
Henri Giraud champagne house did a special engraving on its prestige cuvée for the wine bar Vieta after it received the Best wine list award with the selection that is hard to match anywhere in the Northern Europe. No wonder we are regulars at @vietabar.
Fût de Chêne Rosé has a spectacular deep copper colour and is as full-bodied as in my previous encounters with this champagne. Oxidative in the traditions of other grands in the region. Very fragrant with aromas of blood orange, biscuit, tropical fruit. This is always drinking well right out of the gates.
Fût de Chêne MV12 - Argonne forest oak barrels are always here with touch of savoury notes. Citrus, cocoa, nuts. Generous and yet this release has enough stuffing to develop in bottle for years to come. For those who find Argonne and Krug Grande Cuvée too light on feet in its early days Fût de Chêne is not that - it has more weight which is not a bad thing since the wine can be enjoyed on the young side.

Delicate and vibrant with lots of expression, lifted red apple and rose petal notes. A light and fresh palate with fleshy white peach fruit. This cuvée is made in concrete eggs which are more porous than oak, allowing a little more oxygen into the wine. This also allows for a different aromatic profile to stainless steel, which in our view allows for that very expressive nose.
For today, this characterful cuvée is only $79. Shop ‘ESPRIT’ at emperorchampagne.com.au
