Bumped into this guy while running to class this morning on a side street in Lavapies so naturally we met up for some adventures. Walked 5 million miles to the river and found what we thought was the older sibling of the Peace Bridge in Calgary but it turned out to be it’s distant French cousin, still cool though. Didn’t want to walk back to the centre uphill so we figured out the metro (it’s UNDER the cercanías), wandered through a celebratory downtown following a sportsing win, and filled our bellies with tapas and sangria. 25,000 steps after waking up, I’m home for the night ;) #serendipity#cmfamily#cmfamilia#inhervillage#nowiknowwhyshecallsitavillage#hispicsarebetter

Family has been a major part of my recovery after getting wounded in war. I will never forget how difficult it was on my family taking care of me.
My wife and CM Executive Dirtctor Melissa Hansen had to quit her job as a highly paid senior scientist (chemical engineer) so she could help me during those years of doctor appointments traveling many miles to different hospitals for appointments and taking care of our three beautiful adopted children.
When people talk about “Hidden Heroes” I instantly think of my wife and her sacrifice to ensure the family made it through those years as I got my health back.
Yesterday as I rode behind my wife and son mountain biking on an incredible day out in Nature I felt so happy and alive.
This is why we do what we do at CM, we have been through it and understand how difficult it is on the family as well as the Veteran.

There are several different types of meetings that CM gets involved in to help the community that some of you might not be aware of.
Today I took part in another CIT training for Law Enforcement which is one of those type of meetings.
Starting in 2014 with the Box Elder county, Salt Lake county, and Davis county I have been invited to share my Iraq war experience and how it effected my mental health.
This helps Law Enforcement understand more about why we get triggered by certain things here at home and how to handle these cases when they arise.
It is an honor to be involved and work with our Law Enforcement that have a very difficult job. During my recovery I went down a terrible road and had a few instances with the law, if I had not been down that road I’m not sure it would be affective for me to take part in this training.
Unfortunately the best teachers happen to be from those that have been there, done that and recovered to help others not to make the same mistakes.
I would like to thank Travis from Davis county for inviting me to take part in the CIT training today.

Special thank you to all our Law Enforcement Officers 🇺🇸❤️
What is CIT? Crisis Intervention Teams (CIT) are teams of specially trained law enforcement officers. These officers are trained in tactics to effectively deal with a person experiencing a mental health crisis, as well as how to interact on an everyday basis with individuals who have mental illness. - NAMI Utah
