The Death of the .308 - Special Operations Snipers Going to a New Caliber Ammunition
The 6.5mm Creedmoor which has been kicking around for about a decade is the new choice for the US Special Operations Command for their sniper systems. The venerable 7.62x51mm-sniper round will be replaced as the Creedmoor has superior long-range ballistic performance and has been a favorite of civilian long-range precision shooters for some time now. The Creedmoor 6.5mm has much less recoil than the traditional 7.62mm and in an article by the NRA’s Shooting Illustrated, the cartridge is far more flatter with less wind drift.

The Blackbeard Peacekeeper – A Low Pro Duty Belt
What’s weird about gun belts is they are both a piece of fashion and utility. Whenever you lean towards one way or another, you sacrifice certain things. A fashionable belt that supports a gun is almost never perfect regarding comfortable carry. Your limited belt holes often give you that slightly too tight or too loose feeling, especially for IWB. However, when wearing formal clothes, you can’t get away with a tactical belt. If you lean closer to utility, you get something you can often customize the exact tightness level of the belt. These utility based belts may lack style, so they are better worn with an untucked shirt. Today we are leaning towards utility over fashion. Utility over comfort means fashion and the Blackbeard Peacekeeper belt is easily the most comfortable gun belts I’ve ever worn. .

Warne RT-1 Range Tool: First Look
In today’s ever-changing world of firearms accessories and gear, it’s getting harder and harder to find a simple, durable and legitimate range tool for under $30.00, that was until now. The Warne RT-1 is our featured firearm accessory today and it meets all those adjectives and is priced for the budget conscious shooter but doesn’t sacrifice quality in the name of a bargain.
Warne is a company that we have worked with in the past and they have carved out a nice market at producing gear that works and is very simple, nothing complicated or flashy just great gear that works. The market for affordable pieces of range gear is tighter than ever, so what sets the Warne RT-1 apart from the rest of the pack aside from it’s $20.00 price tag? The Tualatin, Oregon based company has combined twelve of the most popular sizes and types of tool bits used in the firearms industry and done it in a different way from its competitors, but how did they do it? KRG Bolt Lift for the Remington700: Little Knob, Big Improvement
The Kinetic Research Group Bolt Lift gives your bolt an enlarged knob for a better grip. This sounds simple, but it makes your Remington 700 work better and faster which is no small thing. This is the best thing you can do for your gun under $30 KRG also has a line of premium chassis for the Remington 700.
Back in the olden days, shooters used to have a machinist cut the handle of their bolt knob off and thread it to install an oversize tactical bolt knob. KRG makes it easy to do yourself. I prefer the feel of the textured polymer over the steel bolt knobs and they are lighter.

Boeing has plans to turn the B-1B into a gun ship, but is it a flight of fancy?
On May 8th of this year, Boeing was granted a patent that shows a number of potential cannon configurations for legendary supersonic bomber, the B-1B Lancer. The patent’s details range from conformal pods that house turrets to a suspension system that would allow massive cannons to be lowered from the bomber’s payload doors. While the turret placement is different, and even the cannons themselves (ranging from 25mm to 40mm in size), the overall concept is the same: to arm America’s outgoing supersonic bomber with a similar type of firepower already seen in C-130 gunships. At first glance, the idea seems almost like science fiction. Despite dating back to the 1970s, the B-1B Lancer is America’s only long distance, heavy payload bomber capable of breaching the supersonic barrier and sustaining speeds in excess of Mach 1. It’s folding wings, reminiscent of the F-14 Tomcat of Top Gun fame, may be the only aspect of the legendary “Bone” that betrays its dated origins. There’s no question that the idea of a supersonic gunship screaming across the sky at Mach 1.2 before expanding its wings, reducing its flight speed and raining hate down on enemy positions in a battlefield of the future sounds exciting but just how practical would such a transition be? Russia’s new service rifles: Soviet firepower with an American flare
Few rifles have achieved the legendary status of the Soviet rifle of choice: the Kalashnikov AK-47. Its price, reliability and .30 caliber stopping power have made it a favorite among gunslingers everywhere from Third World dictatorships to high-end gun collections. Its legacy even continues to thrive in the Russian military today, in the form of the modernized AK-74 and later, the AK-74M. However, Russia has long been on the lookout for a more modern replacement for their service rifle. The AK-74M was introduced in the early 1990s, chambered in the same 5.45x39mm as its predecessor but that was the last time Russian troops saw a new platform make its way into service. There’s good reason for that of course: Russia’s economy, hindered by sanctions established by the United States and other nations as a result of Russian aggression (like the annexation of Crimea in 2014) have left the Russian economy stagnating, forcing officials to prioritize defense initiatives in order of necessity and with an estimated 2 million AK-74s in their inventory, a new service rifle sat patiently on the back burner in favor of more glamorous endeavors like hypersonic missile platforms and massive payload nuclear submersibles. Now, however, it would seem Russia’s military is set to begin fielding two new service rifle platforms — and in characteristic Russian style, they appear to combine elements of their Soviet history with some modern features that have become commonplace in the militaries of their diplomatic opponents. - Guest author. Doing a bit of info gathering, one could easily identify a sizable portion of the Loadoutroom readership that’s currently (or has in the past) associated with either Law Enforcement or the US Armed Services. Among the non-LEO or MIL readers, there still exists a significant portion who share a common interest with our uniformed associates: fitness. Many of us have at some point in our lives dedicated sizable portions of our day in the pursuit of a body that functions faster, with more strength and greater efficiency. While there is never a replacement for hard work, proper nutrition and supplements can certainly get you further, faster. Enter Ranger Nutrition. Ranger Nutrition’s owner Scott Hardesty is a 26 year Veteran of the US Army. His commitment to this nation continues to his business model, all of his products are designed and manufactured in the USA. I was able to get my hands on a sizeable sample box filled with four different products: the NITRO NO2 pre-workout booster, Whey protein powder, Ranger Candy and Catalyst XT. Let’s run down the details on each, then I’ll discuss personal results with each.

Assault Through with the T3 Assault Backpack
There was a time when I was cool. Way back in 2009-2010 I was banging around Helmand province, machine gun in hand, surrounded by three things. The Taliban, poppy plants, and my brothers. It was a good time. Long story short my Company Commander assembled his own Company Level Reconnaissance squad. None of us were Recon, and the closest we got to being special was the bus we took to school. We were used at his whim to go wherever and to do whatever he wanted or needed. A big part of mission goal was pursuing and punishing enemy fighters. Security patrols weren’t really our thing. We went out and harassed the enemy, we assaulted the towns they held, and generally tried to be a giant pain in the ass. One thing we all learned pretty quickly was that less was more. It wasn’t long after we hit the ground we all started dropping gear. Leg rigs disappeared, grenadiers replaced mags with more grenades, and we knew what mission essential meant. One big thing most of us dropped was our issued packs. We happily replaced them with old-school small Alice packs. The smaller the better was our general rule of thumb. If we had the options then that are out there now I would have dropped my Alice pack for a T3 Assault Backpack. Read more by clicking the link in bio.

Assault Through with the T3 Assault Backpack There was a time when I was cool. Soldier convicted of sabotaging parachute straps in viral Humvee airdrop ‘fail’ video
In a video that’s made its way around the internet in recent years, three Humvees being airdropped from the back of a U.S. Army C-130 over Germany are shown free-falling to their destruction, their parachutes failing to open on their decent. The star of the video, aside from the obliterated Humvees, was the voices of observers, cheering on the destruction of the vehicles as they looked on in awe. One of those observers, a Sergeant First Class assigned to the 7th ATC’s Joint Multinational Readiness Center, was issued a formal letter of reprimand for his behavior in the video. Now, however, the real star of the 1.5 million view YouTube sensation has been revealed: Sgt. John T. Skipper — the soldier that cut the parachute chords on the three Humvees that plummeted to their doom. Skipper was charged with three counts of “destroying military property with a value of more than $500” and providing a false official statement in May and convicted by court martial this past Wednesday. His sentence included a reduction in rank from Sergeant to Private and a Bad Conduct Discharge, though the severity of his crimes permitted even harsher penalties, including a forfeit of all pay and allowances and even up to ten years in prison. A bad conduct discharge, while not as severe as a dishonorable discharge, results in a forfeit of nearly all veterans benefits. They are only applicable to enlisted service members and are discharged via court martial. Read more at SOFREP.com .

5.11 Prefense GoBag | Perfect for EDC
Fresh out of the box, the first thing I noticed about the 5.11 Prefense GoBag was the solid construction and quality nylon materials that 5.11 is known for. I found that the contoured shoulder strap made this thing a breeze to sling over the shoulder, combine that along with two side handles for quick pull access, make for quick, easy access and a comfortable carry. Two large zippered pockets have plenty of storage for a firearm (or two), ammo and cleaning supplies. The one smaller pocket will hold a wallet, keys or any other small nick nack items. The smaller interior pockets are colored to assist in remembering item placement (if you can remember what color contains what item). I suffer from CRS so this is quite a task for me. There is also a small velcro pocket on the posterior side of the bag with ample storage space.

Navy SEAL Britt Slabinski to be awarded Medal of Honor-
The White House announced on Tuesday that it will award the Medal of Honor to retired U.S. Navy SEAL Britt K. Slabinski, for recognition of his actions during a 2002 rescue mission now commonly referred to as Robert’s Ridge. The Medal will be presented on May 24th in recognition of Slabinski’s, “conspicuous gallantry.” The Trump administration’s announcement follows on the heels of the hotly contested and controversial nature of what really happened during the operation and has been ensnarled in inter-service rivalry with the Air Force, who had recommend Air Force Technical Sergeant John Chapman for the Medal of Honor. Writing for Newsweek, Sean Naylor presents compelling evidence that Chapman had been left behind and gallantly fought the enemy to his last bullet.

The official report from the U.S. Navy stated that Slabinski led a team facing substantial enemy fire, “in an attempt to rescue teammate Petty Officer First Class Neil Roberts during Operation ANACONDA in 2002. Master Chief Slabinski’s selfless actions throughout the 14-hour battle constituted gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty.”

Create a Stable Shooting Platform with the UTG Recon Flex Bipod.
The UTG Recon Flex Bipod mounts to the sides of a rifle forend with the included M-Lok screws. A solid bipod, the Flex is well made and reasonably priced, Firearms Instructors, and anyone who uses a firearm for recreation or as part of their duties recognize the value of having a stable platform when firing their weapon. As a Firearms Instructor for over 26 years, and a Marksman on my department Critical Response Unit, I find that a stable platform is one of the most important part of the process when I’m preparing to fire. The best platform for a rifle in my opinion is either resting the forend on an immovable object, or a bipod. My department recently switched to Daniel Defense rifles, the DDM4V7, for patrol use. Although this review is not about the Daniel Defense rifles, it very well could be as I am extremely impressed with them but that may be for a later date. The DDM4 V7 is a standard AR-15 variant, and comes equipped with an M-Lok forend for mounting. My previous patrol rifle was a Colt 6940, which utilizes the M1913, or Picatinny mounting system. My previous patrol rifle for the last several years was equipped with a Grip Pod, which mounted to the bottom M1913 rail. Without adding additional parts, I was not able to utilize the Grip Pod. As my duties as a Police Officer and Marksman sometimes place me in situations where I may need a stable platform for my rifle for extended periods of time, I began looking for something to fill this void. -TLOR Guest Writer

As my duties as a Police Officer and Marksman sometimes place me in situations where I may need a stable platform for my rifle for extended periods of time, I began looking for something to fill this void. -TLOR Guest Writer . . . . . . . #Gear  #Guns  #Handpicked  #Train  #CCW  #Prepared  #EDC  #Reviews  #Military  #America  #BusinessByStorm  #Gear  #Kit  #Lifestyle  #GearReviews

Mobility equals survivability; a phrase coined by Pat McNamara. You need to be able to move with the clothing you have on, whether that’s having to carry loved ones to safety over distance or sprinting with them, going toe to toe with someone and then breaking contact to run. The point is there are many reasons for having the ability to fight and move in the clothing you wear day to day. We’ve previously published an article on being mobile with your EDC, which plays into this article. Kyle Defoor is another great example of this. If you follow Kyle and Defoor Proformance Shooting, you’ll see that he regularly posts about conducting PT and runs in his street clothes and full EDC. I’ve found a few companies that put out some quality clothing that gives you the ability to do the above and look stylish at the same time. After all, looking cool matters. Let’s start at the top and work our way down. Article by @scott_witner. Full article at link in Bio

Former head of Pentagon UFO program’s group releases list of traits ‘unique’ to UFOs
Late last year, it was revealed that the United States Department of Defense has been secretly allocating millions of dollars toward investigating claimed sightings of unidentified flying objects made by members of the U.S. military. The endeavor lost direct funding in 2012, but continued in a support capacity to other investigative arms of the Pentagon (and likely still does) without a line of accounting on the books.
In October of last year, Luis Elizondo, a former military intelligence officer that was tasked with leading this black budget program, dubbed “The Advanced Aviation Threat Identification Program,” resigned in protest, eluding to what he claimed were legitimate security concerns identified by his group that were not receiving the appropriate attention from senior defense officials. Soon thereafter, Elizondo accepted a position with To the Stars Academy — a for-profit media company that trades on its collection of former senior intelligence and defense officials that see what those in the UFO community often refer to as “disclosure:” or a full release of everything the government may or may not know about UFO phenomena – though To the Stars, like many in the internet’s UFO-oriented sites and forums, refers to these mysterious craft as Unidentified Aerial Phenomena or UAPs, rather than the traditional (and perhaps too sci-fi sounding) term of UFO. ---full story, click link in bio---

Bowers and Wilkins P5’s will change the way you hear music.
We live in a world saturated with headphones. Ranging in prices from the thousands to gas station earbuds. I’ve always fancied myself an audio connoisseur since I’ve spent a large majority of my life on airplanes. Early on I was on the Bose kick and then adopted the SHURE SE series in-ear headphones. All of which were phenomenal for a short amount of time. But after about three months the audio would start cracking, the cable would short out, and they would just shit the bed. I’m terrified to actually know how much money I’ve wasted over the course of twelve years. To read more click the link in the bio.
