I have to admit, part 9 was kind of a relief to see after the sheer intensity of part 8. Seeing Dougie and Twin Peaks again was nice. I wonder what’s going to happen now that the evil Cooper is on the loose. And what’s up with the whole Major Briggs thing? The FBI is working on the decapitated guy who had his fingerprints case and Bobby, Hawk, and the other Sheriff Truman are working on the clue he left. Was Major Briggs kind of frozen in time since the body is his but in his 40s? And he got the coordinates from the Hastings guy but then died? I don’t know, I’m just trying to make sense of it. I love Bobby now. I’m so glad he works for the police. And I loved the scene where they visited his mom and she said that Major Briggs knew that would happen. I’m so happy they’re finally figuring out that there are 2 Coopers. And the paper that Major Briggs showed Cooper in the original Twin Peaks where his name came up in the jumble of nonsense letters came back. I think it’s so cool they incorporated that. On another note, I love Albert. His humor is so dry and I love it. When they were describing the murder of Ruth Davenport and the relationship with the Hastings guys and Albert joked, “Well what happens in season 2?” I loved it. I love Albert. I wonder when the fbi people are going to realize Dougie exists though. They need to know there’s two of them. And what is the evil one going to do now? I have so many questions. One of my favorite parts was when Dougie was staring at the American flag and the patriotic music started playing. I guess the things that Agent Cooper really loves at least kind of come back to him. So far, he loves coffee, is obsessed with badges, suddenly reacted when the hit man tried to kill him, and now he becomes patriotic when he sees the flag. I guess those things are important to him. Hopefully I’ll watch more tomorrow. I can’t believe I’m halfway done already through. By the way, I think it is worth pointing out that Kyle does the most brilliant acting whether he’s being Agent Cooper, the evil version of him, or Dougie. He’s just so good and I love him. Well, goodnight everyone.
Part 8 may very well have been the strangest, most confusing piece of television I have ever watched. I just finished it and I think I’m still kind of in shock. I don’t have any idea at all what I just saw though. Whenever I watched the original Twin Peaks and I first saw the scene with the red room and the dancing little man, I actually wondered for a second, “Am I watching the same show?” Because it was so random and strange at that point. I had another one of those moments with this episode. First there was the nuclear explosion thing that lasted forever. It was really cool looking but I didn’t really know what I was looking at. And why was it in the 1940s? And then there was the scene with the giant and that woman and he watched the explosion. And then there was the gold stuff coming out of his head and the gold orb landed in the woman’s hands and it had Laura’s face in it. And then she released it. It went to earth. And it’s so confusing. Did that nuclear thing create Bob or something? Is that what I was watching? I still don’t know! And then there were the creepy “got a light?” guys. Why did they kill those people? And then they took over the radio station. And that was really creepy when he kept repeating that saying over and over again. And then the creepy bug thing crawled into that girl’s mouth. I’m so confused. That episode was a roller coaster ride. I never had any idea at all what was going to happen next. I’m still kind of in shock as I type this because I was completely unprepared for that. Well, I guess I’m going to watch part 9. David Lynch sure keeps me on my toes. I have absolutely no idea what the next episode is going to be like now.
Here’s a picture of Kyle and Laura because I watched episode 7 and I love Diane. It was so heartbreaking when she broke down after seeing Cooper in prison. I’m glad she recognized that something was wrong. I can’t believe the warden let Cooper go after he blackmailed him though. That’s terrible. I was super confused when the guy who played Jacques Renault was back after Jacques died but apparently he’s playing someone else. It was kind of funny when they just showed a shot of someone sweeping the floor for an extended period of time. It was so random but that seemed like classic David Lynch. I thought it was crazy when Ben Horne’s secretary went home and yelled at her husband who obviously was very sick. That seemed unnecessary. But I was happy when Hawk read those pages from Laura’s diary that he found in the bathroom stall and read that “the good Dale is in the lodge.” I remember that scene from Fire Walk With Me. It made me kind of sad when Frank called Harry but he was too sick to talk. I wish Michael Ontkean had come back for it. I liked seeing Doctor Hayward on the Skype call though. Also, I loved when Dougie saw the hit man and sprung into action. Apparently coffee, badges, and guns are the only things that get any reaction out of him. But I loved that part. Anyway, I’m about to watch part 8 so goodbye for now.
