Thanks for all your lovely comments and DMs following my #transformationtuesday post! My number one coping mechanism for my eating disorder at the moment is hugs and walks with Ted. But if you don’t have a Ted, or you hate dogs, there’s plenty of stuff online that can help you if you’re hitting a wall. BEAT, www.beateatingdisorders.org.uk, is an excellent resource if you ever need help and they have chat rooms and phone lines open every day. The NHS also has a list of online tools you can use, link on my bio. There’s quite a few mindfulness apps out there like Headspace which are definitely worth a try. And finally, don’t hesitate to comment or DM if you need someone to just lend an ear. U got this 🔥 -

- 46 days to my first ever half marathon. 🔥
Not entirely sure I’m gonna be smiling that much during the hilly @edinburghmarathonfestival half but!!! ✨✨✨ I‘m so excited to be part of the @beatedsupport team🌻🌻 This charity has changed my life from being lost in the nonsense world of thinking I would never make it out from my eating disorder to a conscious, fierce and stubborn person I am now. They were there when I decided not to give up, not to give in to some unbalances in my body and mind. When I decided I was not gonna be defined by it, not I was not gonna make it ruin my adventurous life.
Here I am. Ready to fight, again, this time to speak up and run for all those people who are either now lost as I was or about to collect all their strength to fight 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼. Why? Because I can’t expect the world to better a place if I’m not doing anything to change it first.
.
Will you help me raise some money and guts to run my first half marathon in 2hrs?
If the answer is yes, the click on my link in the bio and donate, even just a pound to this crazy attempt of mine.
And thank you for the time you take to read this. You are all beautiful people 💕✨🤗🌻.

169『Girls & Boys』Blur
🇬🇧1994「Parklife」

Dean Wade Injury Report: Dean Wade: "I'm like 98 percent sure I'll play. I don't know if they can keep me out of this one. This is big time. It gives me another couple days to heal. I'm starting to feel a lot better. Day by day gets a lot better so it gives me a few more days to heal and recover." Mad ✊ respect! Wish KSU wouldn’t have had to play them because I would have wanted their Cinderella Story continue. First you shocked the world by beating the #1 team in the tourney and then to do it by 20!! That’s insane! You guys played much better than KSU but couldn’t hit shots. It’s sad to see you go and it’s tough to say goodbye. Good luck next year! #Respect #UMBC #GoDogs #UMBCftw #BeatUK

Every time national eating disorders awareness week has come around my social media has been filled with inspiring stories of recovery. I was always in awe of these amazing people, having been gripped by anorexia for three years I never believed I could join them. This time last year I had spent four months in a unit for eating disorders, I had come out a little bit better but far from recovered. The staff and people I met there were some of the most amazing people I've ever met and I'm so lucky to have them in my life. However my real recovery story doesn't include therapists or meal plans. My recovery was somewhat unorthodox. I decided to go live in Mallorca for the summer with my sisters, I don't know whether it was the sun, the people I met, the undeniably amazing support of my sisters, the discovery of daiquiris or a mixture of everything that led to me starting to truly wanting to recover. I discovered there was so much more to life than counting calories. There was sunsets to watch, a sea to dive into in the middle of the night and stars to dance under. There were beautiful people with kind souls who wanted to know me for me and didn't care whether I was a size 0. Now if you've met me in the past year this might come as a shock. You probably wouldn't even recognise the old me. With no light in her eyes or fire in her soul, she was just about alive but she certainly wasn't living. Although my recovery happened in warmer climates it wasn't always sunny, it's the hardest journey i've ever had to make and it's a god damn bumpy road but every time I fall I will get back up because anorexia made me lose so much more than weight, I lost friends, my family's trust, my passions and myself. I will not let it take my future.

Warning ⚠Very personal info follows⚠

On the occasion of International Women's Day today, I'm uploading this video, which basically sums up the year of 2016, a very rough period I made myself go through.

As you can see, my friends and I were laughing and being silly while cooking dinner. What you can't see though is that mentally I was not there.

I was taken over by complete nervousness about our meal's ingredients and mainly fear that they would physically hurt me. My mind had totally drifted to the worry and shame about what am I going to eat, and how am I going to tell them I cannot eat what we were cooking. Eventually, I asked for a seperate serving of baked vegetables without olive oil. I felt so much better, I had control of what I was eating and this made me happy, but only for the short-term.

I might sound crazy; I was to be honest. My mind was so distorted that each and every meal of that year was dominated by these feelings. The severity and form of those may have changed along with my body but today I know I am the best version of myself both mentally and physically.

This body hate that I have had for so many years, and which I share with so many women is something that I believe holds us back from the things we want to do, and makes us miss out on life itself.

What I desperately want for all women is to love themselves and their bodies, no matter if they don't match with what society says is 'perfect'.

Great to be part of the runathon today .where 24 of us ran for 20 minutes per person ,trying to see how much distance we could cover in 8 hours between 9am-5pm. In which @ntuathletics are raising money for the @britishlungfoundation . In various way such as this and cake sale Around 20 of us are taking part on Sunday in @festivalmkrun doing distances of 10k ,half marathon for most and me doing the 20 mile run .
in fancy dress. It looks like I will be doing in the captain America costume as the race number has to be attached to the front of costume so on the bikini I don’t know where I could attach the number too if any reasonable suggestions message me

The reality of doing what I am doing and the way I am training
Is it hard physically? Is it hard mentally? Is it challenging?
The answer to all the question is yes
Trying to balance by passion of weighted based training in the gym to doing more running and cardiovascular based training . Is it very hard to combine Both and be competitive, there are two people that come to mind at doing so they are @rossedgley and @jamescracknell
This means atm I tend to be training at twice a day 3 times a week an averaging 8 sessions a week sometimes 10 . This means my calorie consumption in order to maintain my weight is around 3500kcal -4000kcal which I do struggle at times to eat I know you can blend stuff up but I would rather eat it . Other major things are making sure I am seeing my friends and socialising at least once once a week and then making sure I am on top of my uni work too .I always put the max effort i can give in each event I do , so for me that’s all that counts and I am raising awareness for two fanatic charities and hopefully trying to reduce the stigma of mental health and eating disorders. Also a bonus is I love doing it

I chose this picture from this weekend as part of the #boycottthebefore campaign which you should check out.

On average, it takes 149 weeks for those experiencing symptoms of eating disorders to seek help. That’s almost 3 years! Additionally, only 34% of adults in the uk could name and signs and symptoms.
The sooner someone receives treatment, the better there is of them having a full and fast recovery. @beat.eating.disorders are not just campaigning for better treatments, but to raise awareness so that signs can be recognised and, no matter how long the symptoms have been present, to seek help.

; the focus of eating disorder awareness week 2018 is the question 'why wait?' on average, an eating disorder sufferer waits almost 3 years - 1,043 days - before they seek help; a horrific statistic, given that even 1 day battling the illness is already more than enough. it has been revealed that 34% of adults in the uk are not aware of the signs and symptoms of eating disorders, thus attempting to wait for those around you to notice you are struggling is likely not in your best interest. why wait to reach out for help, when those who seek treatment sooner are far more likely to make a full and fast recovery? i often wonder how my life would be had the early signs of my ED been picked up on back when i was 15. whether early intervention could have changed the fact that i have spent most of my adult life in and out of hospital. it's impossible to know, but i DO know that an eating disorder is not worth wasting your life for. that actually living is in no way comparable to merely surviving, which is all an eating disorder will ever allow. why wait, when there's no such thing as not being "sick enough" to deserve help - your ED will never allow you to feel you are "sick enough" and waiting only gives the illness time to become further ingrained, making early intervention - and your best chance of escaping from its grip - more unlikely. why wait? it is never too early, or too late, to reach out for help. gender, age, race, size, weight are irrelevant - eating disorders do not discriminate; every sufferer deserves help, just like anyone suffering from any other illness deserves help - the only difference being than an eating disorder will convince you that you don't. it's lying. and whilst it may be the scariest and bravest thing you ever do, i promise that you absolutely worth it, regardless of what that bully in your head screams at you. 💕
