MOVIE REVIEW: Solo: A Star Wars Story
Director: Ron Howard
Starring: Alden Ehrenreich, Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Joonas Suotamo, and Paul Bettany
This movie didn’t need to be made, but I think a lot of people are going to have a good time watching this movie. I wouldn’t say it was one of the best Star Wars movies, but I thought it had a lot of good moments, with a few issues that I’ll get into later. First off, I actually thought Alden Ehrenreich did a pretty good job playing Han Solo. Obviously, no one can beat Harrison Ford, but there were times in which he did feel like Han Solo and I liked that. People are saying that he nailed the role, but I don’t think that would be the case. The person that I think nailed their role was Donald Glover as Lando. He really surprised me on how he was able to capture what Lando is: a smooth-talking, jocular, whitty, and flirtatious gambler and he kind of sounded like Billy Dee Williams at parts. Woody Harrelson plays a character who is sort of a gangster type of guy and he was really good to watch. Also, say what you want about the new Star Wars movies but when it comes to the action, it’s amazing. Once again, Lucasfilm was able to make a lot of fun, exciting, and even intense action sequences. Like in the trailer, we saw the Millennium Falcon trying to get through this tentacle monster thingy or when Lando threw Han’s blaster to him and he uses it for the first time, and that was incredible. Speaking of the Millennium Falcon, that ship was AWESOME. The Falcon is like the best ship in the entire saga and it does have a different design, but it showed its full power at its glory. What I also loved is that not only were there excellent music by John Powell (and the theme by John Williams), but they also brought back some old themes from other Star Wars movies that many fans would recognize. Now this movie isn’t perfect and probably the biggest issue I had was that the beginning did feel a bit slow and it does take some time to really get going but when it does, it’s a blast. Sorry for my inactivity these past few days, it was my birthday on Thursday and I was with my friends all day yesterday. We went to see Solo! Honestly don’t pre-judge the movie before you’ve seen it, it’s a lot of fun and I really enjoyed it!
Hope everyone has a great weekend 💕
