For many of us, 18.5 marks the end of our competitive season. Yes, there are local competitions. But the CrossFit Open gives us a signpost to see how our fitness has grown in the past year. For some, the transitioning to Rx from scaled was the big win, or maybe it was getting chest to bar pullups or even a ring muscle up. Whatever your “win” was, celebrate it. But know that there is more you can and will achieve in 2018.

So what’s next? For most of us, we become spectators for the next phase, the CrossFit Regionals and/or Online Qualifiers. But I suggest that you don’t think of this as the end of your season. No doubt, the Open identified some holes in your game (I’m looking at you #handstandpushups ). So why not take a few minutes and come up with some goals for the remainder of 2018.

Dramatic much?? 😂😂😂 18.5 is over!!!! 113 Reps This is a perfect example of how NOT to treat a barbell. And I officially need to work on thrusters. Thanks for the encouragement everyone. 🙏 #18 .5 The greatest thing I am thankful for is that I had absolutely no hip or si joint pain during the first and second time I did this workout. 18.5 and just like that the 2018 open is complete. I’m excited to get back to regular training, pushing myself, making goals, crushing them, improving those holes and having some more fun doin this Crossfit thing with my @wasatchcrossfit crew and friends ❤️

18.5… is 11.6 which was also 12.5… Thrusters and Chest to Bar pullups. @thedavecastro let the community vote on the workout and this is what the people choose:
WORKOUT 18.5 is…
Complete as many reps as possible in 7 minutes of:
3 thrusters
3 chest-to-bar pull-ups
6 thrusters
6 chest-to-bar pull-ups
9 thrusters
9 chest-to-bar pull-ups
12 thrusters
12 chest-to-bar pull-ups
15 thrusters
15 chest-to-bar pull-ups
18 thrusters
18 chest-to-bar pull-ups
This is a timed workout. If you complete the round of 18,
go on to 21. If you complete 21, go on to 24, etc.
It wouldn’t be the Open without thrusters. My advice, don’t go out hot. Find a pace, breathe at the top of the thrusters. If you need to break up the C2B, do it before you hit failure. Have a rep scheme in mind to get through them with a minimum amount of rest... If you are doing scaled, don’t be fooled into thinking that jumping pullups won’t be a challenge. After the thrusters (even though they are lighter), the jumping pull-ups are going to smoke your legs. So be smart, be strategic.
Oh and lastly, after you finish, give yourself a hug. You successfully completed the 2018 Crossfit Open.
