For #Teachingtuesday let’s go through how to do a standing split (Urdhva Prasarita Eka Padasana). Not all of us are as flexible as @yoga_withzoe but in general, this is - great way to stretch your quad, hamstring, calf and groin. The goal is not how high you get your leg but stretching out your legs. To do this: -bring the weight into the supporting leg
-hinge at the hips
-bring your other leg parallel to the ground (if possible) and slowly hinge forward even more as the leg rises. You may want blocks for your hands if they don’t touch the ground.
-internally rotate the leg in the sky so the hips are parallel
Using the wall can help you to ease into this position. And now you have done standing splits!
Part of my yoga teacher training was morning meditation - sometimes by the Ganges River in Rishikesh, India. It seems like forever ago, but sometimes when I am on my mat at True North, I think about sunrise meditation or asanas (poses) looking over the foothills of the Himalayan Mountains and am right back there @chandrayogaintl

Green onions contain Vitamin K and C, which help with growth and maintenance of strong bones. They also contain Vitamin A, which your bones needs to produce rhodopsin, a protein in your eyes that helps to adsorb light. This is important to avoid vision issues, like that of night blindness. You can regrow green onions that you purchase by keeping an inch left of the bulb, and putting it back in water to regrow for a month before transferring to soil (like we are doing here).
