Buer Glacier / Norway / 2017
Well this has to be one of my favourite hikes yet! 💚🍃
Staying in #Odda 🇳🇴it made sense to do a local #Hike to get my legs warmed up for Trolltunga the following day.
#Buer#buarbreen was only 20 mins away from the hotel and is easily signposted https://www.visitnorway.com/places-to-go/fjord-norway/the-hardangerfjord-region/listings-hardanger-fjord/hike-to-buerbreen-glacier/9609/
This hike had everything; Woods, scrambling, using ropes to climb, stream crossings, steep ascents/descents and spectacular views.
We did this hike on a cloudy but dry day following a few days of rain. The ground was slippy so care must be taken.
The route is signposted throughout with the red Ts and is easy to navigate. There were very few people here so it felt like a real hidden gem away from the tourists. At no point did we feel like we were going to get lost.
There are loads of areas where a rope is used to aid climbing so it might be considered difficult if this isn't something you are used to.
Because some of the area is near waterfalls and close to the glacier it can feel cold at times so make sure you take layers! I utilised my @totalwarrioruk gear!
The photos don't do this hike justice. It was thoroughly enjoyable and challenging at the same time.
